Well I shot my first Wolf yesterday
! 6'4" from tip of the nose to the tip of the tail
He weighed in at 156 lbs
. The pics don’t really do it justice, but when I was holding it with me on the scale it was freaking bigger then me! And I'm 6"2!
Now the story!
My buddy Dave and I both have Grizzly tags here in the Kitimat Valley, so we were out naturally hunting them. On our way to a new spot we round a corner and see a huge dog running up the road; but there was no truck around. So we got out the binos and glassed him for a bit and sure enough it was a wolf.
I jumped out of the truck and go after him (he walked into the bush). I thought he was gone, but still I walked up to where he went in and Nothing. I grab a strand of grass and make a few calls with it. (Works great as a predator call
) But he doesn’t show himself.
So finally I give up and signal Dave to come pic me up!
I walk up to the truck and start to unload my rifle. I look behind the truck maybe 30 yards up the road and I'll be damned but there he is; just standing there watching us. I raze my rifle and shoot! One shot is all it took!
But now here is where it gets really weird! Not 30 seconds after I shot this wolf some people drove up behind it running dogs!
I thought oh $h!t did I just shoot one of there dogs. But when I talked to them I learned that I had not

I only have one question do you think that a 300 win mag with 200 gr nosler partitions is just a little big for wolf?

Anyhoo here are some pics
There you go! to me its a little bit too much like shooting my dog so i think this is the last one! I'm going to make a full rug out of him
