I walked into the local gun shop to check on a pistol I had ordered in and walked out with a new toy and a happy girlfriend.:D

The pistol is still a week away but as I was shooting the #### with the owner and noticed a big white crate at the front door with chinese characters on it. Inside were about two dozen of the most cosmoline soaked sks's I had ever seen.

I called the girfriend over as she was buggin me for a new blaster. Long story short after being the nice boyfriend and digging through every one of these rifles to find one she liked and forking over the cash I had another rifle for her.

I'm no expert on these but I did own one a few years back. I still remembered how to field strip and clean all the junk out of it. There was a lot of it too. Luckily it was still pretty soft and the varsol took it out pretty quick.

This one seems to be much better built than the last one I had. The parts are machined well with fe rough spots. The bolt and carrier are very well polished and the gun racks like butter.

The only poorly made part is the stock. It's quite rough and looks like it was made with a dremel tool. Oh well the gun is for shooting not beauty contests.

I believe that this gun has a threaded barrel. the barrel shape is much different than the pinned one I had before.

The best surprise is the trigger. It has the usual creep but has a nice consistant 4.5lb pull. My last one almost needed two fingers to pull it sometimes.

We're trying to get out to the range today to get some action behind it. I have a couple of clips full of the czech surplus left from my last one and I paid through the nose for some privi partisan at the shop I bought it from. I also have a case of the czech stuff coming in on order as well.

welcome back to the sks club...she looks good.

i found my factory 26 1965 exactly the same way you did, it had the worst wood of the bunch on the rack. wood can be changed for $20 but cant change metal.

so can we see some close-up pic? .... congrats

I did get a cleaning kit. There was a box of them in the crate. There were also the green oil bottles but I couldn't be bothered for one of them.

We took it out today burned up some ammo. It really likes the privi stuff and wasn't too shabby on the czech stuff either. The girlfriend was ringing the 6'' gong offhand at the 100 yard mark almost every shot.

I took a few shots at a target for an idea on groups. It's a 3 MOA gun.

I'll try to get more pics in tommorrow of the target and her shooting. I'll try to get some closeups too.

Hmmm, sounds suspiciously similar to my SKS - mine has lousy wood and perfect metal. Is it military production (any markings on the left side of the receiver), how many total digits in the Serial# and what are the first two?????

I have to say .... This thing has to have the nicest wood I have ever seen on a Chinese ... MUCH nicer it seems than the typical, ugly, orange shellac usually seen on these things ...

You Forgot Something

Nice rifle Wobbles99. Can you please post nude pictures of your girlfriend posing with the SKS?

Thanks
BB

It looks darker in the pic than it really is. It's still got the orange tint.

She's put a couple hundred rounds through it so far. It's a good shooter. It put in a good 3.5 inch 5 shot group from the sand bags with the surplus and under 3 with the privi. She had more fun just blasting away at pop cans at the 50 yard mark though.

I picked up two cases of the czech stuff for her as well so she will be really putting the gun through it's paces the next time out.

Hopefully she'll bring her camera so I can get some action pics posted.

I see a pic of the SKS but I'm having trouble finding one of your GF. You've only illistrated HALF of this thread man! Get on the ball!:D
