My gun seems to be obscenely inaccurate

Some people are naturals, some people it takes allot of practice, and some people can't shoot certain guns for some unknown reason.

There is a guy at our club who has been shooting handguns basicaly all his life and gets a 2-3 foot patern from his colt comander .45. wile everyone else gets a decent group.... Its just realy weird.

I just came back from the SIGARMS Academy for my SIG Armourer certification and after spending days working on these things and doing trouble shooting drills I believe its the shooter.

The SIG are known for there long triggers and in new hands they can be a bit much at first.

I dont think you'll have rifling issues unless the last guy who had the gun tried to clean the barrel with a dremel.

Get an experienced shooter to sight it in for you. Hell get a few people to try it and then still see if its the gun.

The barrels on those things are very tough and can take alot of abuse.

Strip the gun for me and post some pics of it and I'll tell you if something is wrong.

But usually guns like this either work properly or not at all.

Try this. Instead of the usual range commando stances you see everyone use to practise for maximun rounds fired in a short period of time I want you to try something else.

Stand legs apart, bring the gun up but do not extend your arms outwards to there max. Have a bend to them so that your elbows are hanging limp at your sides. Relax your arms and focus on just gripping the gun. Your grip should not be tight but simply comfortable. Too many people white knuckle handguns and its evident in there groups.

Your arms should not be taunt at all and when the gun kicks it should recoil upwards more than usual due to your relaxed state. It the gun doesnt kick up your holding it to tight, relax with it let your arms work as a shock absorber, and with your elbows relaxed there less muscle fatigue.

Now for trigger control. I want you to squeeze the trigger so slow your going to feel like time is standing still. If the trigger is a bit too heavy try putting more finger into the trigger guard or on the trigger.

Again slowlllllly!!! pull the trigger, the slower the trigger is pulled the better the shot especially in pistols.

Dont worry about hitting the bulls eye I want you to focus on the best grouping you can do. Once you get a good grouping I might be able to help your further.

as suggested...bulding consistency is more important than being precise once in awhile.

What the heck did I say in Post #8 of this thread?

Same Crap everyone else says, when someone asks this exact same question.

(Sound of a broken record playing the back ground..)

(Use the damn search.. skip.. use the damn search.. skip.. use the damn search) ;)

I didn't mean to hijack this thread. Could you PM me if you know where I can get a short trigger for my P220 9mm?

Thanks,
Jabbaman

Will do one sec luckily I grabbed alot of bussiness cards when I was there, got one from the guy who handles all the Canadian sales.

Try this. shoot off a rest and see what happens. If you are the issue, the gun will put bullets on paper.

Put the rest so that it supports the HG under the bottom frame NOT the slide. Support the heel of the grip. The HG should feel very steady when rested this way. If you don't put holes on paper then, you got big issues.

Have you cleaned the bore? If this is a used pistol, maybe the bore is caked up with fouling or leading? Take it out and see what you got. The SIGs have wonderfully strong rifling so there is no issue seeing it. If there are lumps and bumps in the grooves, you got fouling and this bore needs a good scrub.

It should shine after you clean it.

The P220 in 9mm I owned was one of the most accurate HG's I have ever shot.

I'm just curious if Mr00Jimbo has got any range time yet to fix his problem. Everyone seems to offer the same advice, I'd like to know if it's helping him.
