My gunpowder came in a box, not a can!

We just put in a Calgary area order. I dont know what the total weight of the shipment was but I ordered 14lbs myself.

Looks like I have a week to find some suitable containers. I'll just look around the garage. Should be something I can use.

I just got 4 pounds of gunpowder. I was somewhat disappointed to see it came in little white boxes and not cans!

Just organise a local group buy (with consent) and you will easily exceed the 21 lb quota.

Last year I needed to order 12 lbs of powder myself. I decided to send out an email to a few shooting buddies at the range. Before long the order was up to 61 lbs of powder, ~30'000 primers, and ~ 5000 bullets, lol. I think the total for shipping to NL was around $60.

I recently ordered some casting gear from Higginsons. A Lee Pro 4-20 pot, 6 cavity mold, handles, and some lube. They shipped it here for $16! They're great to deal with.

My 4lbs of Universal showed up in a bag/box. I just leave it in there with a twist tie and have had no problems. My 8lbs of Varget however did come in a jug.

My drug dealer usually packages in small plastic bags.....oh....got it now...you meant...pharmacist.....

Put it in those small brass containers that also fit in your firearm.. to stop it from falling out put a shiny primer thingy in the bottom, and a stick a hunk of lead on top... After all..what did you but it for?

I found some alternative storage methods because of this thread. If I change my mind on just leaving it in the bag and box I can go to the pharmacy and see if they have anything available... or a bunch of other options shown here.

OMG am I the only one who hoards them. I save most of my old empty powder cans. Photo shows only a small sample of my addiction.

Bulk powder always finds a good home at this address. I love the smell of propellant powder in the morning.

Powder storage regs seem to state "in original, factory labelled container". Switching to a Hodgdon H110 plastic container would work, but original is best. More important, do you have a heavy wood, non-ferrous, locked, portable container?

I made a similar thread a few months back and people called me crazy for wanting my powder to arrive in 8# jugs.
I've only been reloading for a year and haven't had the luxury of having empties laying around.
I bought an 8# of Varget for $200.00 from my LGS which was the same price Higginson was charging and I didn't have to pay a hazmat fee, shipping, or look for a storage container.
