Nothing about that looks good.
The mating of the surfaces is disjointed (as you've pointed out) and the curving lines to both the butt stock and the pistol grip are superfluous, doing nothing for the design.
The fact there is no 'furniture' on the front of the rifle gives a lop-sided impression.
If it works for you, then it doesn't matter what it looks like I guess as all asthetics is to individual taste and very subjective.
Comparing the flowing lines of the FAL to an XCR is like comparing the classic design of the Jaguar E type to a Chevy Cobalt.

or a FN Highpower to the Springfield XD.
