My Mossberg 930 +2 magazine Extension Modification (PIC)

think yes, but without proof a cop could interpret it differently when he sees you can fit 6 or 7 shells in a semi. Its chambered for 2 3/4" and 3", the law states 5 rds of the ammunition the gun is chambered for. Being chambered for both, he may see it as 5 rds. period. More grey area

930 are chambered for 3" shells, the fact that you can shoot 2 3/4" in it means nothing . Same reasoning goes for fitting more than 10 rounds of 9mm in a magazine made for .40SW , perfectly legal.

How many rounds of 3'' and 2 3/4'' does the 930 fit without any modification?

Could you buy the +1 extension to achieve the same effect without any modification? (Not the same look obviously)

It's no different than sticking 15 of the mini shells in your shotgun which is chambered for 2.75 or 3 inch shells. It's what the firearm is designed for. Much like the LAR 10 round mags designed for a pistol (ten rounds) but can be used in a centrefire semi auto rifle because it's a pistol mag.

my point is that the 930 is chambered for 2 3/4" and 3", is that not stamped on the barrel? If the barrel says 2 3/4" and 3" then the gun is chambered for both, and not just the one that works better for you. How many rds of 2 3/4" can you fit in a stock 930? Mini shells are different cos the barrel doesnt say mini shells. I think if the right LEO found you putting more than 5 rds of ammunition that the gun says its chambered for he could certainly do something about it. They have more say than civilians, so for grey area I prefer to stand clearly on the legal side. Just trying to keep nutz out of hot water

I've tried offering advice that is the most logical for preventing legal problems as well... it usually doesn't get a great response.

We are at the mercy of the powers that be. There is no clear rules on much of this. Lots of grey areas. Pushing the rules is fine but I sure don't want to risk it.

I can certainly see a police officer confiscating a firearm if he witnesses you shoving six rounds in a magazine tube. At that moment when you have to deal with the situation it ain't gonna matter who's right or wrong. He's going to win the argument and you have to prove its legal. A mag extension is like a red flag for him to come check things out. I just can't be bothered with such things personally. Not worth the potential trouble.

Now, if you take the OP's instructions and construct the blocking pin to allow 95% of the sixth 3" round you could end up in court watching a prosecutor fit 100% of round number six in there based on overall shell length variation in shotshells. That is the part about this that really worries me.
