My NEA broke :(

Yeah...some guy put a few bricks of CCI blazer through his NEA 10/22 barrel, leaded the crap out of it and then got a cleaning brush stuck in it. Then he used a hammer to bash it deeper into the barrel. Then he blamed NEA for it.

NEA replaced this clown's barrel.

Yup, but as I recall, they refused to replace the barrel, stating their new warranty policy… but I didn’t follow it all the way… clearly, in some aspects their Warranty was being taken advantage of…

And people not connected to NEA who said they were quite happy with NEA rifles would get accused of shilling. By the same posters, who can't resist the urge to crap up any thread that mentions NEA. Then those same posters wonder why no-one bothers to post.

It is like arguing with evangelicals of any stripe, even though their ideas might be bat-sh!t crazy, or just flat out wrong, but you'll never convince them they they aren't the way, the truth and the light.

Sorry OP, will stop contributing to the derail of your thread now.

I guess you were here and followed it all the way through… I suppose you have full and complete knowledge of why NEA is taboo around here… let us be clear, there were no shilling accusations until USP outed gunnybunny… since then it has been a running joke... as childish as it sounds, we didn’t start this, they did… on that note, the South African dealer that tried to tell us how great NEA is was just… too funny…

To the OP, I have never heard of a gas tube failure such as yours… but there are a few problems I have never heard of until NEA showed up… for instance, a broken forward assist…

Update!

Called TSE today and NEA has sent them a replacement BCG and gas tube for my gun!

Here's the interesting part: no one at TSE asked them for it. At least the gunsmith didn't. So maybe an NEA guardian angel was reading this post. :) Very mysterious.

Either way, good news. Hope to have my baby back next week!

Hope everything works out for you. :D

Of course they are! Just because they aren't paying for a forum here, they have to be keeping an eye on the place. They are probably feeling pretty good about the fact they don't have to post and defend themselves anymore.

Samson23 - When you get the rifle back, double check to see that the key and the gas tube are 'mating' smoothly. It would suck to have the exact same thing happen twice.

Nothing I have said here is made up by me or anyone else. But you know that better than most. do you think that you are fooling anyone?

Here's a photo I snapped of the munged gas key. Don't have any specifically of the staking.

I am curious what what ammo you were using? I am new to AR's and that appears really filthy! I am curious why that would happen to an AR and amongst all the NEA bashing I don't believe there has been an answer?

The OP said he had fired 200 rounds… in my experience this amount of filth would be pretty normal for a DI system… looks like it was well oiled before hand, which contributes to the filthy look...

Yeah… so far no one has said they have seen anything like the OPs problem… so really it is just speculation amongst us… I believe the top 2 answers so far are that the gas tube was misaligned from the get go (per the OP), or a round or something else possibly jammed and bent the gas tube…

Do you have a photo looking up into the upper receiver, showing the gas tube?

I agree that the most likely cause is that the gas tube got bent/misaligned somehow so that the key was damaged when it ran into the tube, instead of telescoping over it.

Sorry, what I meant was that the exact phrase was used by someone previously in an NEA thread who had business ties to NEA.

Not that I'm saying you have business ties with NEA. I'm sure you don't.

Although it does seem a little curious that of all your posts, only one doesn't have something to do with NEA.

Probably just a coincidence :)

My tinfoil undies seem a little tight today

Hey,

Why don't you just schill out and leave the new guy alone!

Not so much tight as misguided tinfoil. Funnily enough, my primary interest in signing up here was when there was a prospect of better priced ARs being landed in NZ by NEA. Otherwise there is only occasional info of interest to a non-canadian reader that would be worth my posting on. After all you guys can't hunt with black rifles, or shoot suppressed, so the only other subject area of ongoing interest for me is your reloading forum which does have some great stuff.

Consider that a long winded way of saying that I've got no links to NEA, or any distributor other than as a customer.

I do pop in to CGN regularly to see if anything of interest is going on, and sometimes even though I should know better I post in a train wreck of a thread.

In terms of info to add, I'm probably one of the few posting in these threads that actually owns and shoots an NEA rifle ;)

For the record, mine has been fine from the outset, and the only changes I've made has been to install a JP spring set. Am sitting at around 800 rounds down range, and am more than satisfied with it.

Hope that clears things up for everyone.

Hey scaggly can we see a kewl picture of your NEA and suppresor? that would be so kewl. Include one of those really big #### off sharks with it too mkay or todays NZ Herald .....

Thanks mate, put another shrimp on the barby!! Oi!

The suppressor is on my RRA, and the sharks and shrimps are generally found in Australia, which is kind of like the America of Canada.

Just because you tried though, I'll try to get a picture of the RRA with suppressor, and the NEA after I've got the rugrat into bed.

PMC XTac. Good stuff. And yes, I heavily lube w Frog Lube so even though it looks dirty, the residue wipes off with no effort.

No more photos, as it's in the shop. I do suspect a gas tube that started life minutely misaligned then grew worse with use.

sorry to hear about your gas key mate, but TSE is good peoples as you say. In fact, I just received, today, my second NEA 7.5 PDW today. Now I can double fist at the range! 20 rounds #####es!

So here's my 2 NEA BCG's sxs, staking looks fine to me.
