Here is a pic of my new antique. Husquvarna 1887 ser# 6XX I am pretty excited, been a long time coming, to add to my Husqvarna collection. Want to shoot it too. 32-20 brass - shortened and slugged the bore-- 307.5, so 30 cal bullets . 0rdered a lee mold on line for 100 gr. so have heard do I get a set of 30 carbine dies and size shortened 32-20 to fit. know there was a former thread about this on here but too excited to look it up. Appreciate any advice Cheers John

are you saying the bore is 307.5?
if so would you not want to fire something just a bit larger , so as to properly engage the groves.
Bore diameter should be the distance between the lans- so you would need a .32 (.312- .314)

Or am I misunderstanding what you are saying?
janice.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone, she is a pretty girl, I think I am in love, glad she isn't just a one night stand, kinda pricey. LOL Sorry about the confusion Janice the bore dia is .293 and bullet dia would measure the .307 and a half. Should be able to size the 311 bullets to fit. Just haven't really figured out the way to go on case length and sizing cases. Std. jacketed 32-20 loads have pretty much exactly the lead tip sticking out the front of cyl, so cases will have to be shortened at least that much. I know I read once some time ago on the net about using 30 carbine dies for sizing the swede nagent cases made out of 32-20's and they had nagent case dimensions but I can not find it now. :( Also on that forum they mentioned the fact that some of the Husqvarna Nagents had a .308 bullet dia. Which makes sense now that I measure this. For anyone reading this that has never seen a Nagent , you will be very surprised , I certainly was, I had always envisioned a big heavy clumsy old military type gun. But NO this feels like say a round butt Smith K frame with 4 inch barrel but way nicer, the double action is on the heavy side as is single action trigger pull but I find in double action, my finger just comes back to touch frame before it goes off --Sweet. I will appreciate any and all tips or advice on loads for this. Cheers John

Well I did not ask questions, I gave them all the info and received the letter, as I had to have it to import my gun, everything went through fine. I have been looking for one of these for some time now. According to the verifier that you actually have to deal with to get these letters. they have verified up to ser. number 1500. Nowhere does it say that only 350 were mfg in 1897, it only says that the first 350 went to Norway, and production went ahead from there in 1897 with 5400 or whatever being produced in 1898. So hope you are ok with this because if you are thinking I should send it back  there will be a lot of :HR::HR::HR::HR::HR::HR: :HR::HR:d:h:d:h:d:h:d:h::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :)

Very nice looking wheel gun they are, especially that one, minty!.

Let us know how she shoots please and thanks. Do they lock up when the trigger is pulled or just when cocked?.

Do you like or own any French M-1892's?. I love my frenchies, makes me think one of these 1887's would be a nice addition eventually.

Anyone know roughly what the serial number cut off is for the the swiss 1882 revolvers?.

Easy there big fella - nothing of the sort. Just curious if the CFC (yet again) changed there minds on this model, and it sounds like they have.

Hopefully this is good news for a friend of mine. He purchased a Husqvarna 1887 from Joe Salter-his is also in the 6XX range. He gave all the info to the CFC (and they were very specific as to the manufacturer and that the 1887 was definitely not a Nagant). From my friend's emails they seemed to be taking their sweet time on issuing the status letter. He has emailed and talked to the techs several times over the last month+ and they still have not indicated their decision on the 1887.

No problem there Killer, just being funny, you can pull out my fingernails but you can't take my 1887. :) Just going to add my two cents to the guff around all this. In all fairness it it tough for the RCMP verifier to rule on many of these antiques, pretty vague records on pre 98 Europeon guns. Just a FYI an RCMP antique letter was required before the seller would ship the gun from the US. The letter was then sent with the invoice and paperwork with the gun. Everything went super smooth so in my mind it is the way to go. Another FYI , to get that letter you have to register the gun in Canada as restricted or prohibited depending on barrel length even though the gun is still 3000 miles away in U.S. before they will issue the letter. New policy according to RCMP antique verifier. Wonder what happens to this info. I am no expert on antique handgun importation but I was a licensed firearms dealer for many years in the 80's and 90's and things are super smooth now compared to when the local small town RCMP were the authority on all the rules surrounding firearms. ;) My take on this is, some of you keep mentioning techs, not sure who you are talking about and if it is ten different techs  you will get ten different answers. but there is a certain verifier that deals with this antique handgun verification. A proper email request to her will confirm what's what. I got this info from one of the members on here, thank you. and if they are reading this, it is their info to give out.

Thanks again for the nice comments. This gun is double action and single and seems to lock up very nice. It has a rebounding hammer, not a half ####, the firing pin is never sitting on a primer. Main spring is heavy, I don't care very :D I do like the looks of the French maybe when I pay off the mortgage on the Husqvarna. :) Cheers Jack
