well Ive had this rifle for about 10 days now, and until today only had gotten to the range once, and the results from my first trip were far from promising so I wasnt too excited about this rifle quite yet :D

today was much better, I tried a different bullet and powder, and it made a HUGE difference in accuracy. Before, 50 grain Speer TnT over H4198 would print 1.5-2.5" 5 shot groups, but today I tried 40 grain Barnes Varminators over Lil'Gun, and my groups averaged around an inch for 5 shots @ 100 meters, the best was .65" :)

Velocity with the 50 gr TnT over 4198 was 2970 fps at book max load (18.5 grains) and velocity with the 40 grain Varminator was 3350 fps average for six shots (.78" group) using 16.0 grains of Hodgon Lil'gun. LG sure is a dirty burning powder though

Rifle is beauglyful, with the nice stock, low hanging magazine, and high mounts (scope eyepiece barely clears the bolt). I mounted a Leupold FXIII 6x42 w/ elevation turret in the CZ rings that came with the rifle. Its fairly light and feels good, it should do the trick :D  Favorite part is the set trigger that breaks at 1 pound

and its not a Remington :dancingbanana:

Yeah, I've been wanting one of these for a ling time. But between the 22 Hornet and the 222, I don't really see a niche for this...

Maybe one day I'll be able to justify another purchase

i have the same rifle, and have worked up some good loads. mine liked the Vmax 50 the best. ill dig out the log book , and let you know for sure if you like

the 'niche' is it can do whatever the Hornet can and the 222 Rem, in one package ;)

that's exactly where the "niche" is....better case design than the Hornet.....not noticeably louder than the Hornet....and a he11uva lot quieter than a 222........I use 13grs of LilGun in the Hornet...16grs in the Fireball...with a 40 gr bullet it's 300-400fps faster than the Hornet with only 3 more grs of powder.....actually the the FB I had with a 26" barrel was about 600 fps faster than a 24" Hornet with only 3 more grs of pwder....AND it feeds perfectly in the CZ rifle....try one , you'll like it...your mileage may vary.....I like mine....I have a mint 2.5-10AO B&L scope on it....but bartell's has a nicer chunk of lumber on it, that's for sure.....

Nice group!! Very nice. I have a .221 Remington Fireball, but in a Remington XP-100. The Hornady V-MAX and Sierra Blitzking bullets are quite effective.:D

x2 on the V-Max's. They work like a charm on gophers in the Browning Low Wall (.22 Hornet rechambered to .221 Fireball :) )

Looks like you've got a keeper.:D

Very nice looking rifle mr. bartell :) and a shooter too..

I can't quite tell from the picture, is the stock notched out at all for the bolt in closed position? It just seems like Brno could have bent the bolt a wee bit more with more of the stock cut away to accomodate.

That'd be my only thing towards negative from what I'm seeing and hearing about these rifles. Mind you I've got some real tight clearance situations with bolt/scope on a couple rifles too, and a guy gets used to it purdy quick. ;)

crf will come in handy when being faced with charging beasts so often encountered when packing a 221 Fireball  :D

the rifle feeds the shells from the magazine slick as can be :)

of course, its a mauser

The scope seems to be mounted a little high. Is that because of the bolt lift on the cz. Or,is that the way you like it? Very nice looking setup. Didn't you use to be such a Remington guy. Have you finally seen the light?
