My NEW MDT LSS Arrived! First Impressions Report! Yahooo

I love the FDE of the LSS since it matches all the Magpul FDE KoolAid!

With that MIAD pistol grip, I kept catching my thumb sweeping for the safety (used to an AR) everytime I was ready to fire. The entire rifle and stock vibrates on the bench like a tuning fork. Wonderful to have a pistol grip that allows a STRAIGHT back trigger pull, and not upwards like a traditional rifle stock. :D

I'm loving my resin AICS .223 magazines, a bit of rattle, but some movement is necessary for rapid magazine changes (I'm gonna shoot NSCC Service Rifle next summer with the LSS rig). I bought my AICS resin mags from Wolverine Supplies (board sponsor) and their banner is at the top of the page. I bought two of them in keeping with my advice:

Don't buy ONE!

Buy TWO of them....

I might just be taking my own advice with maybe (big maybe) my 2nd LSS on the horizon for my incoming new-to-me .308 M700 LTR. :D

Cheers and keep helping the noobs around here!

Just got mine together. Basic black. Dropped in an assembled-from-parts barrelled action w/20" .223 take-off heavy barrel. Couple of magazines coming from Wolverine. For testing, installed a 6X Burris HBR scope.
Going to set up a larger caliber upper. Haven't decided on .243 or .308. Or .260, if I want to buy a barrel.

I think you should make it .260, and then sell it to me very cheap!

I'm going to bring mine out this weekend. I should have a magpul cheek riser for the adjustable buttstock by then.

I have an PRS and an MDT butt plate and fixed stock adapter on the way. MDT says the adapters should ship next week.

Excellent pics. Where did you buy your mags from? (Brownells is sold out of both AICS and AM at the moment.)

Brownells wont ship AICS or Accurate Mags .... I allready tried.... So I had to pay double and buy it from Wolverine    since MDT is out of the 10 rounders Accurate Mags...

I must say, I really like my .260. That barrelled action would be a bit long for a LSS, I think. Do have a 700 based .243 with a Shilen #5 barrel on it. Think I will drop it into the LSS to see what the rifle is like with a 26" plus brake medium weight barrel.
One of these with a 20" .260 barrel and 120s would be really sweet for short and medium range shooting.
You know, there is a separate SR agg. at DCRA NSCC SR for bolt action rifles. No one shot it this year. It would be interesting if a group of shooters were to compete in the class. One of these rifles would be ideal.

For any one sitting on the fence still about these LSS chassis. I was able to see tactical teachers rifle hands on yesterday and I was impressed. For the price of most companies bottom metal you get a very solid system to work with that runs aics mags. I think I will have to pick one up my self.

Mine is supposed to be here tomorrow along with a couple 10 round mags and a pistol grip....All ordered from MDT !!
And they give the military a 10% discount as well .

Well done guys!!

I have a 20" .223 9" barrel from an SPS Tac and I also have a .22-250 that was rechambered by Doug at Ellwood Epps from a 20" SPS Tac 9" twist barrel for horsing around with the MDT LSS setup. All good fun with the both pairs of .223 and .308 AICS magazines! :D

I'm loving this platform!

My LSS and AI mags arrived today and I am very impressed ! Glad I picked one of these up .
Its for my SPS tactical .308 with 20 in barrel.
It went together well but I had to chase the threads for the pistol grip as well.
They sent me the wrong grip (ergo grip with beavertail) but its all good as I swapped a MIAD grip off of an AR .
The AI mags load ammo well ( 10 rds 308) and feel good in the magwell . Mag release could be a tad bigger IMHO.
The LSS looks and feels very solid.

I went with a CTR stock with a 1/4 in cheek riser...I have a 3/4 in riser on the way and I think it will work better.

As it sits in the pic it weighs 11.35 lbs with empty mag and 6-9 in bipod

For the PRS crowd. Well, lacking the adapter so the stock just spins around.

I dunno how much it weighs, but it's fairly hefty. Likely due to the thick barrel. If it matters, the balance point is about even with the ejection port/magwell.

Remington 700 AAC-SD .308 20" barrel. Hogue grip. Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3-9x40
