Am I right in saying that since the brass is ejected forward, that the gasses are also ejected forward and therefore you won't have the Tavor eye problem?
 
This thing chucks the brass! I measured off on average 20 pace's. All landed at around the 1-2pm position.And only a couple were as damaged as the OP's.

Oh and I wasn't checking the accuracy but it did keep all the rounds in the black of a 6in target at 25yards.

Just looked at my brass 50% case mouth and main body damage as in your pic. I assume this is brass hitting the wall and floor but could be wrong.
 
Interesting note found in one of the vendor threads... Looks like the SKS front sight tool can be used to adjust the front sight on a 97. I wasn't even looking at the front sight as I knew I was gonna be scoping it, but it's a useful tidbit of info especially here where everybody and their grandmother owns at least one SKS ;)

I love my 858, but I'll tell you one thing, with all the hype about the mag release, I have an easier time changing mags on the T97. Especially with D&H mags - they slot right in.

I think the accuracy will be very similar. Everyone should have both anyways - and a M305 :)
 
Mags seem to be dependent on the T97 you get.

Pmags fit in mine gen2 & 3 (only tested 4 of 15)
Lar15 grey, 2of 6 will fit.
Black lar15 fit
Non of the above drop free.

And others have had problems with pmags but ok with lar15.

I haven't got mine yet... Do you think some light dremel work on the inside of the magwell would make things work better?

I don't think it's ideal, but it's not the end of the world as it's made out to be here. The release works really well with D&H mags and they drop free easily.
My gen3's fit way too tight, they get stuck in there - I'm trying to trade them..
 
Hey guys, I've got a bit of a problem here.. My black Canada Ammo LAR mags are not dropping free. There is a bit of wiggle front to back, but the magwell is tight side to side (even with the mag release pressed in) and I'm sure that's where the problem is. I don't wanna modify the magwell. Any ideas other than taking the hammer to the mags? lol
