My new red baby :D

Need a rail to run from the font of the hand rail to the front sight post, low enough to co-witness. Still like the idea of a full length replacement rail for the upper cover assembly.

For an uper covre assembly rail, you'd need to remove the receiver mounted proprietary scope mount and be left with nothing solid to mount the rail on. The handguard isn't solid, so I don't see anything mounted to it holding zero.

Try an aimpoint micro, Bushnell TRS-25 or Trijicon RMR style optic. You won't have the cheekweld or height over bore issues you are having. Glad to see these rifles finally made it to Canada.

I'd still like some magnification for reaching out, though.. What about just running a Burris PEPR.. Does it give more rise than a low set of rings? I won't need much for the ocular to clear the rail. Still gotta deal with the cheek weld issue, but might not be a bad compromise.

What is the weight?

Chromed Line Bore and Chamber?

Looks Great!

Weight is 3.9kg as per the manual, haven't weighed it myself. Feels light and handles well even with a 1+lb scope. I don't know enough to eyeball whether it's chrome-lined or not but I can do a cold blue test once I dig it up. We're living out of suitcases at the moment and for another couple of weeks.

Almost tempted to ebay a cheap china forward offset mount to see if it gives me too much of a rise. Any thoughts on the idea?

Good luck, I've been looking for months.

For some reason I thought this was a black rifle, thanks for sharing some pics anyway.
Also looking forward to seeing how these do on the range.

Cool :) I'm not a fan of the looks, but if the range reports come out good I might put it down the list somewhere. That scope is really high it seems, how is it looking through it like that? Are you going to need a riser or something?

Now they are here it should help bring the price of Tavors down.

Nice idea, but I don't see the connection. The difference in production costs between the rifles, is where the discrepancy is. That isn't going to change. I expect to see more used Tavors up for sale, at slightly lower prices, but nothing more. The P90, Tavor, Fn2000, Famae's etc. will still cost what they cost, unless the Chinese start producing them.

The connection is that people are more likely to buy a Norinco over the Tavor because of the huge price difference if nothing else.
I don't want either, but I'm pleased to see more rifles being imported, even plastic ones. :)

Oh I agree, the type 97nsr will definitely outsell the Tavor, thanks to pricing, I just don't think it will have any effect on Tavor pricing, which is what you referred too. I have a type 97nsr on the way, and my brother and buddy have Tavors, which I covet. More rifles being imported is good, now lets change these silly magazine laws.

Market forces tell me that the price of the Tavor will have to come down now that there is competition. If I were a dealer I doubt if I would import more Tavors with the competition selling for way less that half the price. IF the Type 97's turn out to be no good then that will save the Tavor, but I somehow doubt that will be the case.

Means little, but of the two I prefer the looks of the Norinco over the Tavor.

Trigger feel is a bit mushy but doesn't take a lot of force. Goes barely past the 4lb mark. Gas and accuracy will have to be tested tonight after I properly sight her in. Having Nissans around doesn't make Mercedes any cheaper.

LOL that made my day. And I agree, the expensive bullpups won't be selling for less. The Norc AR didn't drive anyone's prices down it just got more new shooters into the sport. People recognize quality and although the Norc AR functions and shoots quite well it just isn't a Noveske or KAC. Or even DD. Nobody rushed out to offload their 'merican ARs so they could get a norc just like nobody will be dumping their Tavors to get a T97.
