well I've been putting this together over the last little while, initially wanting to get into service rifle for the upcoming year, but not wanting to limit myself to a restricted rifle. (I know its less important to some, everyone has priorities)

I havent shot since I was a kid but was happy to find that after sighting it in on the 25 and 50 yard targets, the very first 5 shot group I put out to 100 yards was all within an inch. I managed one more 1" group after a few from 1.5 - 2.5 inches, with 1 - 3 inch group that I new would be off when I fired, but for the first time shooting in 13 years I was pretty happy with my first day back, and with how the xcr performed, now just need a lot more trigger time. I probably put 60-80 rounds through it by the end of my time there.

As with everything, there are compromises. I'm sure I'll need a few more days at the gym to deal with the weight in service conditions, not a big deal. And I'm sure plenty of people will point out that I could have put together a more accurate ar platform for the price, but so far I'm plenty happy with.

The most dangerous thing is how my credit card cringes when I start looking at putting together a handgun/long gun combo now that I had a fun day at the range to start off the year.

I wish you folks would quit showing pics and tempting me with these sweet toys!

wingsuit, could you give us a breakdown on the goodies you added, and if possible, where you got them?

Thanks for your time!

Later.....

Should work just fine for service rifle.
Good idea to spend some time in the gym - you might want to consider either using a treadmill regularly, or running laps.
Also, work on your position shooting - both shooting proficiency and just getting into position.
Funny how those Falcon Menace scopes keep popping up.....

Not a big XCR fan but that looks awesome. Have fun blasting away with it.

Not sure where your from but if you in Ontario/Quebec you should seriously consider going to one of Hungry and TimK's CQB/service rifle matches.

Cheers,

You could have been nicer to the credit card by using a CTR instead of the uber spendy UBR. ;)

All joking aside that is a really sweet looking rig. Have fun shooting it!

Looks very nice Wingsuit.

I have the same scope on my XCR. Which scope mount are you using?

Not to answer for the man, but it looks like an ADM recon.

I have one for my Falcon and love it. Short of a Larue you would be hard pressed to find a better mount. Give Walt at ArmsEast a call if you are in the market for one...

Looks really nice. Seems you're also a decent shot. I hope you post some more stories with pics.
I'm curious about the eye relief on your scope. Does the new buttstock increase the LOP so much that you can't keep your rear sight on?

Very nice rifle. I'm envious. Despite the cost, the UBR is probably a good choice for the stock as the heavier UBR probably helps balance the rifle, with its heavier barrel. How do you find the cheek weld height for the the scope set up like that?

That's what I was thinking. When I used an xcr I found it really front heavy, I bet the heavier ubr is helping to off set that.

Gotta say it's a great looking rifle when dressed up in fine cloth. 2 thumbs up.

thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Lets see, as far as the rifle goes, I put a falcon 1.5-5 on a adm recon mount. Ubr stock with the new stock adapter. magpul miad grip, magpul pmags. Troy modular combat grip, some railguards, and a rail mounted sling loop. I think thats about it.

As far as where I got everything, it took me awhile and ranged from the ee, brownells, wolverine, questar, allen gun works, one shot tactical etc.

About the rear sight coming off, its more about the low scope mount than the lop on the stock. I plan on replacing irons with a set of low profiles that should be able to fit under the scope.

Cheek weld is a little low, but not unbearably so. I might have to put up with it as the ctr cheekweld fits the oldschool ubrs that had a narrow cheek piece (its been discontinued) but I've been told it doesnt work with the new ones.

the ubr was initially chosen because I like the look of it, but also because its weight would help balance out a nose heavy rifle. I already spend time in the gym (been out recently due to a dislocated shoulder) so I dont think the extra overall weight will matter, I'd rather go for the balance.

I'm also happy with how I shot after that long a layoff, but know that I have a long way to go, especially from the various shooting positions. All this was done sitting at a bench. My layoff from the gym due to the dislocated shoulder was noticable when trying some standing shots. something to work towards anyway.

That is awesome looking...

I really like the looks/colour of the stock and pistol grip

Now it is getting even harder to wait for my OD Green XCR in 223 to arrive... patience has never been my strong point...
