By name the Valmet is exempted from the gun laws. (It doesn't make sense; it doesn't have to - the government says so.)

The Valmet is excempt by specific model/series and if you search this site for threads on them you will find out why. Owned one in the rarer model caliber of 30-06. Very accurate with open sights, but meh just another firearm and very costly and time consuming to get extra parts from the original importer Stoeger Canada---Dieseldog!
