Well, I finally got around to taking some better quality photo's of my Nordic build. The one I had posted earlier in PC9's thread made my rifle look kinda funny looking - hopefully these ones bring out more of the beauty that I see when I look at it. I wish I had Nine's skill with a camera... and some baseboards... but it's the best I can do.

For a recap of what's in it currently:
  • YHM Flash Hider from TacShot.ca (dirty in these photos from 400 rounds)
  • factory 18" barrel threaded by CGN user GunTech (wow - is he ever fast!)
  • YHM Spectre Length (9.6") freefloat handguard w/end cap from Willwagspal
  • Chinese knock-off Aimpoint from TacShot.ca
  • Nordic stock from FabSports.ca
  • RRA 6 position CAR stock from FabSports.ca
  • VQ auto bolt release from rimfiresports.com
  • Tuffer Buffer from TacShot.ca
  • A2 grip (it's been waiting a couple of years to get used on something around here)

The YHM handguard is a nice touch.
How's that aimpoint clone working out for you?
Check the bolts on the aimpoint mount ring, every one i have checked has been loose,so the 6 bolts need to be tightened when you get em.

Oh,and slap some oil on the YHM compensator,it will darken right up and match the barrel

The aimpoint is working out great! It's the perfect sighting system for kids or first timers - they get on the gun and they're hitting clays at 50 yards. I've tried teaching noob's how to use scopes and conventional sights, but this doesn't require any instruction. These fakepoints fit the picatinny rail snugly too so I don't worry about losing zero if I have to take the aimpoint off for some reason. When I save some more nickles, maybe you'll unbundle and sell me one of those 3x magnifiers too?

I just checked the mount ring. 3 out of the 6 were loose. I put a tiny dab of fine-thread locktite on the middle screws of both sides.

I've got a MIAD grip coming in to replace the A2 style one.

Excellent, good to hear..and i could spit a combo up for you.
And keep that a2 grip, you might end up going back to it

little 10/22 looks amazing. I read on a few other threads people complaining about the rail being so high and not lining up with the four rail front hand gaurds. Guess thats not a problem with your set up but I just milled down the top rail of mine and attached a weaver rail flush with the hand gaurd, helps with both the function and the look.

It looks really nice, but I think it would be even better with an 11.5" barrel. Give it a try and send us more pics? :D

Do you have any pics of urs?

Looks great! Inspired me to do some damage to the 'ol bank account. Everything is ordered and should be here soon :D :D

So far I've just got the telescopic buttstock, and my A2 grip (Thanks Ronin) ...probably won't be needing the AR buffer and spring from the stock though.... anybody need one? :)

Thanks for the compliments guys.

faswagon - keep the buffer & spring. If you ever decide to change out the buttstock, it'll be a lot easier to sell the old one to the AR crowd if it's a complete stock.

Soli - an 11.5" barrel & shorter handguard will take a couple of weeks. ;)

The Nordic manufacturer wanted the ergonomics of the Nordic to match that of an AR. Unfortunately the Ruger barrel sits ~ 0.4" lower than an AR. They are coming out with a rail adapter block to raise the rail on the handguard even with that of the receiver rail. I suggested to them that they also come out with a "low profile" receiver rail for those that don't care about AR ergonomics. Fingers crossed.

Good point... my original (never used) barrel and stock from the 10/22 will probably be hitting the EE as soon as I get it though, can't imagine ever reverting back to them once the AR22 is assembled.

Dammit I need a nordic stock NOW

where the hell can we still get these?

Yeah, I'm seriously considering one as well.

If Canfire posts a pic of his current Nordic build with an 11.5" barrel, I may very well just sh*t my pants on the spot and buy one after the obligatory clean-up.
