My Norinco Type 97 Shorty - Range Report Post # 80!!!!

yes, it's the same pistol that lever is selling.
PLA type 92 = commercial CF98 = Norinco NP42 with different grip logo

the top one is the 9mm type 92(CF98 at lever), the bottom one is the 5.8mm type 92

sorry I was not gonna turn this thread to the type 92 thread. :D

It's all good..I was impressed with what I saw...haven't seen a range report in the pistol forum yet though.

Put another 100 rounds through it (zero problems so far with 400 rounds through it). The following was a 75 yard group, using 55 grain winchester white box, trying to shoot between 20 km/h wind gusts. Optics were an Aimpoint micro (4moa).

I believe the type 97A barrell is only 18 inches. According Dekard importers are trying to get an 18.5 inch made for non-restricted

Yet the QBZ-97's barrel is listed as 520mm (20.74 inches).

And I have had this confirmed by other sources.
So I don't know why these rifles are showing up with shorter barrels.

The secret was killing me. ;) I know the rail will be very well made.

Meanwhile, the value of your Qingkov is stable for now. I hope CanAm brings those in too though.

I'm not really too concerned about the value...I've had tons of fun posting about it while it was (and is) a relative novelty out there. Part of my goal in posting (and I'm sure you can relate) was to get people buying them to open up the aftermarket parts supply...which this rifle needs to compete with the higher priced tavor...once it has the after market parts I bet it gives up very little to the Tavor in terms of performance. I guess we'll find out though won't we? :)

so, two questions for clobber since this has grown on my since my first post, and i figure sooner or later canam will bring the shorty in for a good price and i dont know how long ill be able to hold off buying a restricted range toy

1)this vs a short AR, at current prices (ie:about equal at 1500 each)
2)this vs a short AR at CanAm prices?

Depends on if you can wait or not I guess. CanAm wasn't so sure he'd bring in the shorty...Also - I didn't pay full price for mine;)....

In either scenario the short is the way to go over the AR...way cooler, most likely more reliable as well....
