Congratulations on an excellent post. I envy your ability with a camera.
I guess I never realized what a fine establishment we have there in Ottawa -
I must make plans... Thanks. Cheers

Beautifull!!
regarding Hitler's car......
Political correctness and history never went hand in hand....
There have been only 60 years since WWII. We've learned of historic events that were depicted as terrible, to find out 20 years later that it wasn't so bad because someone else with poorer manners came along...

Nice Museum. Thanks for sharing.

Great, I hope that none of those wonderful arms have been demilled!!

Most (if not all) of the stuff they had at the old museum was dewat, down to each individual shell casing that they had laying on the ground around the displays had the case mouths crushed.

The one you captioned as "not sure what this is"..is an M548. Ammo carrier. Used by mech artillery and mortar crews in CF.

Fantastic pictures, many thanks. I got to crawl around that BMP when it was at Vimy House, wonder if the RAM is a runner? do thy have anywhere they can run the vehicles?

Are they displaying anything onAfghanistan yet? What about the issue they had regarding the internal politics where they wanted only to do the War vets and peacekeeping thing?

Great pictures!
I have to go back and take another look, it has been a few years.

Just a note, you have the M3/5 Stuart labeled as a Grant

Nice photos MRCLARK. I especially like the one "about to ruin someones day".

Thanks, guys I was very impressed with this museum and recommend you all check it out and Ive seen alot of museum's. The "ruins someones day"s pic is actually two pics superimposed togther from one of there walk through displays. This was one display was to demonstrate what it was like for the troops in Italy and Greece. You walk into a destroyed small corridor with cobble stone and stucco walls like that part of the world in WW2 and see the commonwealth soldier behind the wall. Then as you walk deeper into the ruins
you see broken chairs and tables then "WATCH OUT GERMAN ON YOUR RIGHT WITH A SMG"

Pretty neat and they include sound effects.

Thanks again, it was brutal to get a shot in there not like the DDAY Museum in New Orleans. I had three cameras with me, one for close ups, one for wide angles and one for low light stuff. Thank god I brought my pack mule(commie girlfriend)

I wish it would have looked like that when I was ther, when did they change it?

Nice pics by the way:) Did they still have the Red Barons seat there?

It used to be around the corner from the Chateau Laurier then they made this completely new facility, its built like a friggin fall out shelter, its huge!!!! And yes I did see the cockpit of an old WW1 single seater, I guess that was it.

Yes a lot were that you could see outside the glass but I did not see any welds on the ones inside the glass. This bad boy was definetely a deact
medium.jpg
you could fondle it and everything

There was a few of these as

MMM has stated and they were welded to the wall so you could touch it but no clicky clicky. They could have at least made the trigger move, but oh well I guess they didnt need the hassle from the dooshbag feds.

I,m so glad they didnt sell it either,

I remember the press interviewing the custodian of the old museum and he wanted to bend over to the folks who wanted it sold or destroyed, can you imagine. Whats next book burning. They in now way glorified it or the regime in any way buts its our history, when people ask why our troops died over there what do we say? Ummmm we cant talk about it? The ####ler mobile and its paranoid accessories are a perfect display to show what happens when we dont control ourselves. We need to remember what happened so we can never let it happen again our at least make an effort to stop it etc etc if you know what I mean.

Lol you got all the same pictures of the best stuff I took. I didn't see the fighter jet I was too busy looking at all the tanks.

Heres the cool part, I dont know if you guys remembered but I went to Borden a few years back to see Worthington park http://www.pbase.com/mrclark/cfb_borden_2004 and its supply of rusting tanks again when I noticed something odd. Behind the park where a few old closed up buildings stood that reportedly used to be the old tank museum stood these

note the stuff under the tarps

31244682.jpg

Well it turns out after I talked to a few folks back then that these were going to be displayed at this new Museum it Ottawa and they took them out of storage. They were not dragged out if you look in some of the pics you can see track marks!!! And on the tops some of the hatches were open but secured with just a chain and padlock. The when I spoke with some people in the new Museum they said most in not all were drivable still to this day.

So most of the tanks you see I took pics of in Borden were prepped for the new museum a few years later.

I would love to know where this went though?

I didnt see it in Ottawa?

The Sturmgeschütz III that they have there (I believe was called 'wrecked panzer' or something in the photoset) was taken to Canada as a war trophy and then used for target pratice and hit several times. It was then painted to make it look more damaged before being put on display at the museum. Those of you who build models should be familiar with the process :).

Oh, heres a pic of my hand, about to make off with the P08 from the photoset...
