Glad to see another one going to a good home! The supply of Cooeys that once seemed inexhaustible is slowly drying up.
The Cooey, IMHO, is a Canadian icon, as much as maple syrup and beavers (I know, I know!). I'm now the proud owner of an exceptional Model 60 (my first Cooey, despite wanting one for 50 years!), and I'm a happy man.
Talk to a gun owner almost anywhere in the world, mention "Canada" and "guns" in the same sentence, and they'll think Cooey (some of the more well-informed will also think "Ross"...but not many). It synonymous with quality and steadfast reliability, albeit with, to some, somewhat uninspired looks.
As time goes on, prices will continue to rise, and good examples will become rare. Mine is a family heirloom, now (bought new, by my father in 1958, still in as-new condition in its original box, and recently passed on to me). As it happens, I treasure it now as both a symbol of my dad, and a symbol of what Canada once stood for.
Well done on your purchase!! Bring that baby back to its former glory, and enjoy it!
