My piece of crap, $100, gun show Cooey 600.

You did very well. You wouldn't believe the POS Cooeys I've seen over the years that guys want $200+ for. It's like they think Cooey is some magical word.

I still have mine I got in 1968. Was my companion in many a teenage adventure. I bought other razzle dazzle guns when I got older, and neglected the Cooey for a long time, but I find I enjoy shooting it as much now as I did back then.

Glad to see another one going to a good home! The supply of Cooeys that once seemed inexhaustible is slowly drying up.

The Cooey, IMHO, is a Canadian icon, as much as maple syrup and beavers (I know, I know!). I'm now the proud owner of an exceptional Model 60 (my first Cooey, despite wanting one for 50 years!), and I'm a happy man.

Talk to a gun owner almost anywhere in the world, mention "Canada" and "guns" in the same sentence, and they'll think Cooey (some of the more well-informed will also think "Ross"...but not many). It synonymous with quality and steadfast reliability, albeit with, to some, somewhat uninspired looks.

As time goes on, prices will continue to rise, and good examples will become rare. Mine is a family heirloom, now (bought new, by my father in 1958, still in as-new condition in its original box, and recently passed on to me). As it happens, I treasure it now as both a symbol of my dad, and a symbol of what Canada once stood for.

Well done on your purchase!! Bring that baby back to its former glory, and enjoy it!

I've had mine for over 30yrs now. My mother bought it for me at Canadian Tire when I was a kid. No plastic trigger guard on these ones and as accurate now as it was then after thousands of rounds.

A Cooey was definitely on my list of "must have" guns. I used to shoot them back in the 70's and 80's when I was a kid, so there's all those associations I have with them.

My biggest regret now is mostly getting away from shooting in the 90's and 2000's... A couple of lost decades, really.

At least now I have the $$ to (mostly) be able to afford to buy this kind of thing on a whim. I can't afford a SA National Match on a whim (need a good tax refund for that kind of purchase), but there are a lot of great old guns out there that can be had for reasonable prices. No need to drop thousands on something just to enjoy the sport.

I'd been looking around for a Cooey for a few years now, and none that I came across really jumped out and said "take me home!" - at least not at the prices people were asking for them. This one kind of spoke to me at the gun show - and it didn't lie.

Really glad to have it.

I kind of like that the stock is a bit dinged up and rough around the edges - the ones I shot as a kid were very much daily driver, working .22's, and that's kind of the way they were meant to be. Not pristine safe queens, but a rifle you used.
