Recently arrived, and bought the light for it yesterday! Can't wait to try her out on the range. I plan to take some slow-motion videos then. Enjoy!

I was looking at one at reliable the other day. Seemed like a great gun. It fit in my hand like a glove. I know its superficial but I really like the look of the gun. Its got that second level of cool for some reason. A few things bugged me though.

I own a glock so thats all i really have to compare it to. It seemed pretty heavy. I also couldn't help but notice that there isn't much real-estate on the slide for you to pull back on. Seems like its a bit short if you get my meaning. Also it kinda bugged me how many things on the gun stick out compared to the Glock ie the safety and the slide release. Not to mention i don't need an ambidextrous safety.

I know it sounds like i'm complaining too much but I think those are things I would just get used to. Real nice gun dude.
 
Depends what you will be using it for.

The weight in competitive shooting sports like IPSC are a real bonus, as the weight tames the recoil of the gun, allowing faster follow up shots.

Ambi safety is also useful if you like to practice weak hand shooting.

As for the slide being small, I thought the same thing when I first got it, but it is more then enough once you get used to the gun.



I have heard many very competitive IPSC shooters say that the SP01 is the best out of the box gun you can get for Production Class shooting.
 
Bought it off the E&E forum for an excellent price. Looks nicely broken in, unknown round count. Has some minor dings on the frame & slide, but nothing serious. The fibre optic sight came with the gun, but i've ordered the stock front sight post from Armco to match the tritium rear sight. I bought the Streamlight TLR-3 from Dave's Surplus.

I'm not used to the smaller slide real estate either, since I was trained on a Browning Hi Power and I'm used to the larger slide area. However, it sits in my hands like a glove, and the weight is reassuring but comfortable. I'm not a fan of Glock grips or the grip angle, but the CZ fits me perfectly. The only pistol I've ever held that felt better was an EAA witness with Hogue wrap-around grips on it, but even the EAA is a copy of the CZ-75.

Not everyone likes a heavy pistol, but I'm a big fan of full size all metal duty guns. The TLR-3 is tiny and light, but the added weight is nice too. I'm sure that muzzle flip will be next to nil.

Kevin M, You were close - I use a Casio EX-FC100. It opens up a whole new world with the slow motion shooting mode.. I love it!

The CZ's fit my hand like a glove as well.
I like the way the frame overlaps the slide on The CZ's it feels good in the hand holding with a high grip and there is more space on the frame for contact clear of the moving slide..

I don't think I came across a gun that fits my hand as well as CZ 75. I'm not a fan of the low profile slide at all tho - it makes it harder to grab onto when you want to rack it. Also the slide release is kinda out of reach (too high) and ejection port opening has to be pretty small. CZ is a good gun (I like mine) but it's far from perfect IMO.

I think it's a matter of preference. I'm used to the small slide release on a Hi-power and the even smaller safety. I've handled 1911s and I've found the slide release to be even further away and hard to fumble at without breaking your grip. I have large mitts, so that's saying something lol. I do agree that the slide release isn't perfect, but it's worlds better than what I'm used to. I think the safety is perfectly placed.

My only worry is how to find a holster that will take an SP-01 and the tac light :confused: . I plan to hit the range on thursday, weather permitting. the Casio EX-FC100 needs a lot of natural light to take good quality slow motion videos, or else it looks very blurry. I'll keep everyone posted.
