Is that 600m in Campbell river by chance?
I gotta try this... Not sure if I can even remotely get close to 1/2 MOA, but yeah.... Cant know if you dont try... I have three rifles that I'd like to make the attempt with... is it permissible to go with all three or do I need to pick only one?
...
Success list is dominated by small caliber BR rifles. Just several 308s in the custom/Coyote class $$$
Wish it was that linear. Done many one hole three shot groups and many <1/2MOA 5 shot but have yet to do 5x5. Best was ~23, flinch on 2 shots to pull just >1/2. Consistency over 25 shots is capital B!TCH
I think I have a target that qualifys. I would like to find some one arround here to measure it as well to confirm my measurements or to tell me I didn't make it. And then to figure a way to post it.
Bullets often cut a smaller hole depending on target material... for a more accurate group measurement the first thing is to measure one hole... write that measurement on the target for reference... then measure the group and subtract the reference mesasurment... that is the way we did it in Centerfire Benchrest before we had a proper tool...
What is the proper tools?
What is the proper tools? Is it take a pic, pop into software like OnTarget Precision Calculator

Micrometer.
15 bucks at Canadian tire.
Did you understand guntech's post. If not read it again, the point is a simple vernier caliper is not good enough for BR targets. A micrometer would make it even worst.
Hey there Chinese Guy,
interesting numbering on your loads. Any particular reasoning for the way you have your tenths organized?
Nice looking rifle too btw. I am considering the MDT setup for my savage 10FPC.
Good shooting.. Looks like a satisfying day out at the range.

the numbering was because the hornady book said max load was 44.0gr so i did decremental weights by 0.3 from there (44.0, 43.7, 43.4, 43.1, etc.)
satisfying would hardly describe it. i was so cold with the wind that i was shivering while shooting which threw off quite a few of my shots. im going to do another smaller ladder test from 41.0-44.0gr when it gets warmer. it was the first time where i was glad to leave the range. lol
Finally got to the range yest. after more than 6 weeks wait for the road/parking lot to defrost from sheet of ice to muddy potholes. YES, Vancouver does get snow once a decade.
Took a gamble, sighted in at 100m, luckily took only two shots. Did several 5 shot groups from min powder, then .5gn increment. Post is the last group using OnTarget Precision Calculator, nice free software, hopefully got it set up correctly.
Just one group, very happy with it. Time to start load development, then off to try this challenge which the rifle seems capable of, not sure about the shooter.

Haha... c c c c oooldddd....
It was like that here last week.. soon as the sun went behind the hills it dropped to sub zero temps. I dont mind the cold so long as Ive got good shoes and good gloves, but last week was about as much fun as your trip sounds like. Looking forward to see what you and your rifle can do when youre warn and cozy!
...
That theres some nice shootin' Tex.. What range did you go to? Mission or Coquitlam?
Im still gotta get my sorry butt out there.. I want to see if I can get my lakefiled to do this.. then the 223 and then the 308.
lots of fun coming up.. hopefully!
