My Rifle Shoots 1/2 MOA at 300 yards/meters All Day! Really? Prove It!

Too bad all the groups have to be on the on the same piece paper. I always use 8x11 sheets on cardboard for 1 or 2 groups each. I had an excellent day Nov 18 2012 where I would have met the challenge before the challenge existed. It was some of the best conditions possible.

I will attempt it for "real" shortly.

I stapled 2 pieces of paper together so they overlap and put one dot so that the group will be on both papers. That way even though it is two pieces of paper it can't be used with another attempt.
I held the target up against the light so that you can see what I mean.

I did pull the 4th shot low to check vertical. After Raton last year so was pretty tuned into my 223/90

good luck to all that try.

It will be a challenge but just think of all the positive training and load testing you will get.

any rifle and shooter that can complete this task is going to do superbly in F class.

I might consider giving this one a go in June or so when all the snow should be gone. Man I hate winter.

Drove by it several times...going hunting. Surely there is somebody in Emo that would verify your shooting achievement. It's worth more than pictures of small groups.

Yes. I will call the closest CGNer to come out to my house every time I want to attempt the challenge just incase I succeed. There is a few in Fort Frances that I know of. Only about a 45 minute drive. Maybe if there is any in Emo they could come out to my place. Although I'm not aware of any. I'm about 15 miles out of town. Of course them just seeing my target won't prove anything. They would actually have to see me shoot. On the other hand, we haven't had any real problems yet and we probably won't.

Nice response UTG. Personally I find the implication in Terry's posts a little distasteful - sure, yes, it is possible to cheat; heck we could take a pencil and push holes thru the paper if we are really that friggin insecure but, really, there is no money on the line and if someone wants to cheat to make an internet posting I kind of pity them. This challenge is about getting shooters out to try and prove not to the internet but to themselves what their gear can do. If the rule was no verification no credit I personally couldn't give a rat's diaper - I know what I did and I got the target stuck up on the wall here in the den. My knowing what I can do when the stars align is all that matters so let's not get panties in a knot about verification etc etc.... Kudos for UTG for getting the ball rolling and to everyone who has made an attempt.

UTG is posting up a "for fun" challenge for all of us. If someone decides to cheat then so be it......it's not going to matter anyway.

Go out, do some shooting and enjoy yourself.

If you are going to cheat why even bother with the challenge? Obviously if you need to cheat then you feel you can't do it, so why waste the ammo? Like Tomochan said, push a pencil through the paper and post your picture for all your lackies to pat you on the back and move on.

Let's not turn this into something that it's not. All that's on the line is bragging rights so just go out and have fun :)

Exactly. The thing with these challenges is it pushes you to the limits. Limits of doing your best. For me it is a way for all the nay sayers about shortrange BR that say it is not real shooting to realize what we are up against each and every target. This is using 4-6 windflags out to 200. How many shoot without them? It is amazing how much easier the challenges can be when you are able to see and read the wind.

Your right, I apoligize for my comments. I was not trying to pick a fight or call someone a liar or a cheat. I understand the manner in which this challenge was put forward and I hope everyone else does too. It is for fun and for bragging rights, nothing more. Lets shoot and have some fun! Good luck to everyone.

I will be trying this challenge myself, hopefully sometime this week. Results and pics to follow.

I'm going out today to try - I will use a .308 first and if that doesn't work I will try with my 6mmBR. Will post an update later whether I succeed or not. Weather here is sunny for a change - much better than the driving rain I contended with on Saturday. Oh yeah, it's Monday - boy I love being on severance LOL !

If anyone tries these challenges with ANY rifle, they have already won.

Trigger time is the only way anyone will become a better shot. Typing and reading about it doesn't do anything.

With trigger time AND the ambition to improve, a shooter will naturally improve their loading, their equipment, their skill. They will not get any worst.

So kudos to everyone that tries, even if they aren't successful or post their results. Time at the range is the whole point of this exercise and why we own guns in the first place.

Enjoy....

Jerry

Tomochan, the snow is melting so if you aren't "working" too hard, come on up and we can get some testing at longer distances.
