My Rocky boots suck ! What's a good boot ?

Irish Setter and they are great.
Light, warm, water proof and commfeeeeeeeeeee.........
Some amazing ability of wisking the man sweat out of there without
letter in the water, dew, wee wee and other foriegn moisture.

Still using a pair of Irish Setters that are over 20 years old and bought them in the states on sale during a change over in styles. They have loosened with time so are okay on the level but not for hills.
Danner does make some narrow boots and I have 4 pair of the Acadians in 13B.
Two are uninsulated, one with 200 grams of thinsulate and one with 400 grams.

Best boots I have ever used, and I have used a lot of brands, Danner, 511, Rocky and who knows what else, has been Han Wags. They are not the lightest, but they have been the best, most comfortable, hard wearing keeping my feet dry, warm boots. I wear them daily for work, and in all kinds of weather...... Winter, rain, bush etc. They are not cheap but I love them!! They fit differently and I have found that people either love them or hate them. Oh just as a side note, I walked across a 20 foot creek that was at least a foot deep last week and stayed dry, twice. Good thing too that water was dang cold!

I wear Hanwags daily, forget the model name...the one without goretex. Also have a pair of Danners...Canadians I think? Tall, all leather model with thinsulate.

I like the Hanwags, but they are a little stiffer, little heavier, and the price seems to keep creeping up on them.

the half-tanned leather of the hanwags is a lot more stiff than the full tanned leather used on other boots. Lasts longer and more durable, tougher to break in. As for the price, I'd rather spend the money on good boots that will last me, than the POS chinese made boots that rocky, cabela's, and most other's are selling lately.....

Rocky's do suck! Not just the boots but the company attitude and lack of warranty. The soles disintergrated on my Rocky gortex boots about 5 years ago and the Company said 'too bad'. Have never bought another Rocky product to this day......and many more to come.

I had a pair of Rocky boots that were so good when they finally were wore out I bought a new pair. They were awful. My feet were always wet. I followed the instr. With regard to silicone application.
I jumped through the hoops and returned them. I got a new pair different model and did not wear them for a year. My feet are now wetter than with the previous pair. As I never worn them for a year they won't take them back as the receipt is too old. I'm done with that company.
What is a liter weight Gortex boot with maybe 400-500 grams of thinsolate that will keep my feet dry ?

Thanks

My Meindl's lasted for years and I still have them. My son and I recently purchased and used Irish Setters and I can only give them two thumbs up. However, if I had three thumbs they would be for the Meindl's.

Irish Setter, Elk Tracker.

What he said!
I've been using mine for over 6 years. Standing up very well, most comfortable hunting boots I've ever owned. Not a single blister when breaking them in. The first day that I used them, I put 10 miles on them in terrain ranging from logging roads to swamp, to some serious up and downhill.

X2 on the scarpas, I prefer the La sportiva brand but any mountaineering boot worth is salt is gonna be dry and tough. Well worth the extra $$$

All of my go to hunting boots are neoprene now. I use muck woodys elite when its cold, and rocky 400 gram neoprene side zip boots if its above zero. Awesome traction, light, warm, and they fit snug and form fitting, I can run in them. Best of all, I can cross streams and never worry about soft marshy land, with no soakers......ever.........neoprene boots are'nt like old rubber boots that are used on the farm. If im in thick forest, bushwacking, then I keep my pants outside them, for extra puncture resistance, but I have had my mucks for 2 seasons, and rocky's for 1 and they are perfect with no holes......i really ride my atv in thick tight trails, and I highly recommend neoprene boots.....you wont ever get a soaker unless you breach the top with water above the knee, and they are great for walking all day. I will never use my leather irish setters again, unless im snowmobiling. I always came home with a soaker with my irish setters.....once water reaches the tongue. Get neoprene and make fun of your buddies wet feet with there leather boots.

Irish setter are OK. Not particularly durable or well made IMO (I've had two different sets). They are waterproof and warm though. I want to tray some Danners but they just don't seem to fit my feet very well.

I can agree. They were really stellar when I first bought my snow trackers. Durability could be better though. Now, I've had them 5 or 6 years, and paid 150 clams for them, so I definately got my moneys worth.

As far as warmth... 2nd to none!!

:agree:

In the area I hunt...rubber/ neoprene knee-high boots are a must.

Swamps/ creeks are the norm. They keep your feet dry, and the ankle-fit boots are very comfortable.

My favorite pair are LaCrosse Burly's...but they are hard to find.

i had irish setter deer trackers for 4 years and killed them, cant seem to find them anymore but they had no brake in period and stayed dry,i then switched to the tall neoprane irish setters but my feet sweat so much i get cold,i dog all day for the camp and put a lot of miles on my boots im currently with danner canadians and really dont like them much, i had them go through warenty once as the steele shank split and made a clickong noise .they gave me a new pair, great warrenty but just cant get my self into them so im looking too.lately hunting for me has changed,i guess age,and i cant seem to get the get up and go without my heart bursting out of my chest,so ill be looking also for some light weights to get me going again
