My SL8-4 w/ Pictures and Range Report

Congrats on your rifle, I've always been a fan of the SL8. You thinking about turning it into a G36 clone?

I was in your shoes not too long ago AR180shooter.

The SL8 is my 3rd gun, 1st, Glock G17, 2nd, Savage Mark II, 3rd, H&K SL8-4... it was a huge jump in price for me, and Im glad I took it! If your thinking of getting one, DO IT!

Cheers
Matt

What kind of ammo did you use? 5 rounds inside 1 quarter? wow, that's better then my groupings, and Im loading my own ammo. Maybe I'm lacking in the skill area and should stop blaming the bullets, lol.

Seriously? I was even using 55gr. factory ammo and I've heard they shoot all over the place... I was really surprised! Just prone with a bi-pod laying and a bushnell 3200 elite tactical 10x.

My second grouping was about the same, almost identical.

I am starting to reload as soon as galen270 can drop off the reloader I purchased from him... as soon as I get that I will finally be able to load my own at 69gr(as the CGN'er whom I bought if off said thats what she loves to eat)

Man, this thread sucks... it makes me want an sl8 sooooo much!

I never even thought of getting an SL8, just by the pictures and such I couldn't care less.

8 days ago I had the opportunity and took it... It arrived yesterday and Its by faaaaaaaaaaaar my fav rifle over the AR/m14 etc. They look amazing in real life and has THE smoothest shot I ever laid hands on.

It has a hefty price but most definitely worth it.

Came back from the range, I was not very consistent with my shots. She kept shooting to the left and I am THE n00b when it comes to scopes. I think I have been dialing it wrong, first 2 shots I hit them in the same hole to the left, after that my groupings I became very ashamed of and she was hitting about a foot to the left

Gonna have to read the manual on how to fine tune the scope.. anybody else been firing their SL8 lately?

I have Paul. I had to fight mine tooth and nail to get it into 1 MOA country - and that is with target loads. One of the fellers swears that those Hornady A Max 75 grainers are the answer but my HK doesn't seem to care for them.

I know I can shoot sub MOA if the gun is up to it; I have other guns that will do that all day long...but these SL8's can be a challenge. With the bolties everything locks up tight and a feller can quickly trouble shoot them and find out what they like to eat - narrowing your choices down for reloading components is relatively quite easy.

These damned semi autos have everything moving around and the only way to find out what works is to try it. My semi autos will now shoot but I had to rip all my hair out by the roots and use every cuss word in the book before I got there!

I dunno if I like the SL8 better than my AR...mind you I haven't scoped the AR yet...they are both fun rifles.

I have yet to shoot mine and have the hensoldt 3x handle scope. I dont understand the adjustments on either side...apparently they're supposed to "click" but they don't seem to when you adjust.

Ouch, sounds rough... I never did a trigger job before, do you have links to any information that could jump start me? I totally blame my groups on trigger. Guess my first trip where I got them into a quarter no problem was just a fluke.

I am starting to reload soon, just have to pick up some equipment I bought and get some powder.

Personally till now I prefer the SL8 over the AR yet I have not scoped an AR...yet.
