My Sr22 ... My way - Updated Pics 11.19.2010

So the Pmag you used was the 10/5 round "stubby" - correct?

Yes.

I got them from Blaxsun here on CGN. I need to get another myself, I don't know what I was smoking on my first attempt. But I put my 10rd'r on backwards. By that time the JB weld had already hardened and I broke the lips off of the Pmag trying to to fix my mistake by taking the OEM mag off :D :p

The mag pictured is an Pmag from magpul, and it's just glued to the bottom of a standard 10rd ruger 10/22 magazine. I got the ideas from ronkytonk who did the same to his. I don't like the look of the banana/skinny mags myself, that's why I copied him.

If you do go for the skinny ones, get ones with steel lips (tactical innovations or butler creek)

Curious....are the Pmag's wide enough to slide the larger capacity banana magazines into? Wondering if I could slide a 25rnd Butler Creek into a 30rnd Pmag for the higher capacity along with the wide magazine look?

Can we even get a 30rnd magazine here in Canada to attempt this, or does that fall under Prohibited status?

Possession of a 30 round unpegged is ilegal, if you get a 30 round mag remove the pin and permanently alter it to fit only .22 it should become legal again. Although I have no idea how well the process would work.

The BC 25rd mags are wider than the Pmag itself, so it would be a no-go for that idea.

That's pretty much what I was worried about. Even if being used for "dummy" purposes, would a 30rnd mag still be illegal for us poor Canuks subjected to the 5rnd centerfire limts. :(

If you cut & gut a mag to try and fit a BC 25 rounder inside, I couldn't see how they could call it anything other than a legal pinned mag that has been butchered to the point of being unusable for any centerfire rifle.

If you gut the interiors, it becomes a dress up accessory, not a mag anymore ;)

Pmag Conversion

jt_trouble,

Thanks. Really cool rifle. I have one too. I'm trying to recreate your Pmag conversion for the magazine. Can you post some photos of just your magazine conversion with the factory rotary mag from Ruger? I'm not seeing the fit automatically jumping out at me.

Thanks

The lips of the pmag are tucked into the recess under the OEM Ruger magazine. If you put an empty mag into your SR, and then press the lips of the pmag into the recess, you will see where you have to file a bit of material off the front of the lips to make it sit level. When you got it the way you want it to look (position wise). Break out a tube of JB Weld and mash up a batch of the quick set type and push onto the top of the pmag follower (tuck under the lips) and keep enough above the lips to fit the recess. Press the Ruger mag on and hold for 5minutes or use elastics to hold them together.

Make sure you have the mag on the right way!!

Or you will have to try to remove the Ruger mag without breaking off the lips like I did :D Now I know why I bought two :p Try to keep it (ruger mag) centered on the pmag. Let dry overnight, use some touch up paint and try it on for fitting.

Hex nut to the front!

You will see in this photo were I had to file some of the JB Weld off to get it fit up into the magwell of the SR
