Model D mags will only fit the china SKS-D's. You need the duckbill style that replaces the factory box mag. But don't bother.
AFAIK, the only reason is paranoia in the Obamastan.
And SKS parts & stock are also affected. Cdn dealers are having a tough time ordering from the US.I wish I got into this hobby 2-3 years ago, at least I would've built an arsenal that's worth looking at by now!

This is a Russian SKS I picked up from Frontier. Note the ###y gold bayo.
Before you all string me up: Everything I have done is completely reversable and all the original parts have been stashed away in little baggies or bubble wrap.

I also have an AK style muzzle brake enrout. I will have a range report in a couple of weeks, I need to head south and pick up some ammo first.

I guess because it needs a bipod to be used on a bench rest, and it does create a small snag hazzard but I would sitll rather a 5/30 mag just in case the shtf.

Lol, I like the math, but thats the glory of bolt ons, they can all be taken off. Hell I bet my sks will be in better shape than most because all my stuff has be stashed away in the locker, not dinged up at the range

With the current regulation forcing any semi-to a 5 round limit, I think this mag makes a very nifty handle...
The SKS was never intended to be a "tactical". It was and still is a very competent military rifle/carbine and the choice of ten-round clip reloading is very appropriate. It gives you a very low-to-the-ground capability, its magwell protecting pan is nearly indestructible and the clip loading is the fastest and smoothest of them all.
I made five-shot clips from existing clips and reloading is still very fast.
Besides, you can unload that rifle very quickly too, which comes handy when hunting with it.

It took just over 2 months for my stuff to come too , I guess it takes about 2 to 4 days to reach canada then another 2 months sitting on a shelf to clear customs!!
