So after a long time coming mostly on the behalf of our beloved CFO, my new family of Springfield P9's are finally all together :). So basically I got bit by another bug and I went out searched around and bought myself two Springfield P9's and one EAA Witness. I first saw a Springfield P9 at the Orangeville gun show one year ago, it was an all smoke gray race gun with sight and comp and I love it right then but I couldn't afford it. So now I am taking my Black Badge and I needed a 9mm and I have a bit more means then before, so I found one bought it and then just got carried away . I would have had one more that was for sale here on CGN but I was low on money again and just missed the deal, it was the IPSC Ultra and I kick myself every night for letting it get away.

All three of these are CZ75 clones designed by Tanfoglio, all the parts are made by Tanfoglio in Italy and then they were shipped to there respected US companies where they were assembled. I have read that the Springfield P9 was assembled under the supervision of Les Bear while he was running the Springfield Armory performance shop, unfortunately I am not sure if that was for all the P9's built or just the few IPSC specific versions.

1) Gray duo tone - Springfield Model P9 Standard 9mm, 4 3/4" barrel. This one has been professional parkerized and has an extended safety other then that it's stock. I have had two problems with it which have been fixed now. The first is that it came missing the safety detent and spring which I had to ordered from Numrich in the states. The second is that the rear sight fell out while shooting, after some research as to why I found this is a problem on some Tanfoglios and some blue loctite fixed it right up.

2) Blued - Springfield Model P9 Standard .40 S&W, 4 3/4" barrel. This one the bluing is amazing and is like new condition, it is completely bone stock except for and extended mag release but that will be swapped to the EAA soon. and It shows no problems as of yet but I haven't had a chance to shot it, knock on wood.

3) Silver and black duo tone - EAA Witness Mod EA9 frame with a Springfield P9 LSP Slide (Ported long slide and barrel) 9mm, 5 1/4" barrel. This one is very well used but it the cats ass, it has be converted to SA only, has had a full trigger job, full internal polishing and much more. The only issue that I have so far with is gun is that when I first shot it and only when live firing the trigger would not reset randomly. Again after some online research I found that this should be resolved by adjusting the trigger pre-travel screw. I have done this and I will see if it worked once I get a chance to go back to the range.

Here's some eye candy to have a look at

Cheers,
Evan

Thanks and thats if they dont brake to many time. The parts are almost impossible to get in Canada, there even hard to come by in the the US and the shipping is killer if they can even sell up here. That was kinda one of the reasons why I ended up with three of them.

Very nice...lucky you..
I am sure you will enjoy each for many years to come.

Here's some pics I took of the internals with the slides off to show you the differences in all three. If anyone could possible tell me why the differences are the way they are that would be great. I have read that the LSP slide was put together in the Springfield performance center and the EAA has had a trigger job, so that would explain some off the differences for that one. But why the 9mm and the .40 as I thought they would be the same and they are so different?

They are from right to left.

Springfield Model P9 9mm
Springfield Model P9 .40
EAA EA9 with Springfield P9 LSP slide

Differences:

- All three barrels are different are different. The 9mm has a blocky lug with sharp edges, where the other two seem to be smaller with nice smooth contours and longer polished feed ramps.

- The end of the 9mm guild rod is also not smooth, where the other two have a smoother cone type ends.

- The trigger assembly design on the 9mm looks to be different then the other two.

- The P9 9mm in SA, the trigger pre travel is giant compared to the .40.

Thank you.

I'm really liking them right now but they are sure testing me, there have been a few issues that have just come up. the gray 9mm seems to be kinda f'ed up in SA, the trigger wont pull back and set in SA position when cocked. There is also a gritty feeling at the hammer and sear just before the shot is fired. It shoots fine in DA and SA but the pre travel in SA issue and the gritty hammer leads me to believe that they are connecting problems and and something is definitely messed up. This has got me thinking maybe I should just pull out all the internals and either install myself or have someone install a real nice DA/SA setup, if I can even get all those fire control parts up here in Canada.

I am also having an Issue with the SA EAA, the trigger sometime completely randomly wont reset after it is fired, this only happens when live fired and never when dry fired. I was told it was to do with my pre travel being to tight and that I needed to back the screw out one quarter turn and it should be fixed. I did that and I will know if it is fixed tomorrow after I go to the range. with that said I will have a chance to shot my .40 for the first time, hopefully it goes well. It's the cleanest of them all and seems to have no issues right now so I am expecting it to be fine, knock on wood lol.

Evan

So I finally took my problematic standard 9mm apart for the first time today, wifes away lol but I should have done it allot sooner. Gotta love used guns, the culprit a boken trigger halo :( . Well that explains why the trigger wont pull back when cocked, theres nothing for the disconnector to grab lol. Heres a few pics. They have the part at Numrich but with the fifty bucks shipping up to Canada, I just bought parts for this damn gun.

Cheers,
Evan
