My trail Cams were stolen!

I had the ATV ramp to the back of my truck stolen while out hunting two years ago. Talk about puttting me in a bad spot. Had a heck of a time findining a low spot to back into to get out of the bush, and it was getting dark.

I was moose hunting this past week, I went into the bush early and told the other guys that I was going to come out at 10:30 and have some oatmeal. When I exited the bush there was a pickup truck parked at our site with the doors open. They did not see me coming and when I got to them they said "I thought this was our friends camp". I keep a small booklet and pen in my pack to write down gps coordinates, I made sure they saw me write down the plate number. Good for us nothing was missing, this time. When did we have to start to chain and lock everything down. I would never think of taking what isn't mine and get burned because I was raised with morals, thinking others are honest as well.

SCUM of the earth. Sorry to hear about your items. I have donated several tree stands to someone and one on my brothers farm right behind his house.

Get one of the solar powered electric fence chargers and sneakily hook up to the chain holding your camera to the tree, make sure you crank the voltage high enough to make them piss themselves!

Make sure you have another cam setup to watch the action though.

What about a tiny note above your cam.

"If you're reading this note, note that pictures are stored remotely, SMILE #####!"

I have installed 2 cams about 12 ft off the ground to see if they come back and burried 2 8 foot 2x4's with about 40 screws in each of them down the atv trail that goes threw my property.

Not only will I see who they are but I will see them walking by my house after they blow all 4 tires. Being the ass that I am, I will tell them they are not allowed to get their quad and if they do I'll have them charged with trespassing. Of course after that I'll sell their quad for parts on Ebay!

Sucks to be them!!!

Some proof that it was them might be nice before pulling out all the stops... I assume you've also seen their welfare cheques? Not alot of people on welfare are riding quads.

Only 4 people know about my trail and 3 of them have not asked permission to use it. I have already talked to the guy that did ask and he knows what I'm doing.

Guess the other three will learn the hard way!

The three idiots are teens and their parents are just as useless as they are and no they are not on welfare.

Just for future reference passing that plate onto the popo could help with thefts in an area. I know in my area I would like to get that info as it gives me a direction to look. Could lead to nothing and be a legit mistake but could also put us onto someone that has been doing thefts in an area.

Awesome! Would make cool Youtube video. Why is it that more of those scums don't get into more hunting accidents or accidentally run into trees and help rid the world of their kind?

Just get in your car and go back to work. If you don't there is less tax money to spend on welfare, then there will be cutbacks and they will only steal more of your stuff.

That's entrapment. If caught, YOU will be the one in trouble.

Entrapment? he is not inviting them in to commit a crime, he is protecting his property. i'd like to hear what the police would say about this, but in this country you would more than likely be charged.

scribed my phone number into the plastic on my trail cam, on the front back and inside. devalues it and less likely to be bought by a pawn shop, i hope.

make sure your property is marked no trespassing. I am considering marking it protected by celluar trail cams also.

Place a note by your trail cam / treestand set up. On the Note write " Camera #1 of 3...If you plane on taking this stand and Camera be sure to take the other two cameras on the trail as well "
That may keep them wondering if there really are other cameras and if so do you have their photo already.

Doesn't matter whether asked or not. If you set a trap for someone, you can be charged.

Care to post up the section that says this?

I suppose that all the ATM cameras, radar cameras and speed traps are illegal too then right?

You also should learn a little about what entrapment actually is in Canada:

Entrapment

Objectionable police conduct such as offering a suspect an opportunity to commit a crime without a reasonable suspicion that he or she is involved with crime or when the police are not pursuing a bona fide inquiry in a high-crime area. It also includes disreputable police conduct that goes beyond providing a suspect an opportunity to commit a crime and actually induces the commission of the crime. The remedy for entrapment is a stay of proceedings.

The way I read it is only police or their agents can entrap someone under Canadain law.
