Nagant pistols

The Montana's Leroy says that they can ship or bring to Canada any legal gun. Just a thought, maybe we could order from them Nagant ammo? I'm not sure if its doable, but as I understood up to 5000 rounds could be imported without any paperwork...

Fiocchi has an office in Vancouver (I'm pretty sure), and maybe if you Google "Fiocchi Canada" you'll get contact information. If not, I'm sure if you inquire of the US site, they'll give you what you need.

What ever you guys decide I'm getting Nagant, I wanted one since I was 5 years old. As for ammo I hear brass can be imported from the states, Bertam brass is available at midway the only thing is cost. 27$ per box of 20.

That was my dream too...I got my

midway has the ammo by Hot Shot for $23.49

Phoned to one of the importers, he said he could bring 7.62 Nagant ammo from USA (not for resale). Fees on top of ammo price estimated about $400 per shipment (I'm guessing some tax, duty, etc. is extra) Considering the price down south is less than $25USD per 50 rounds, could be a good deal. If some of you guys interested we could order couple thousands to minimize the cost. Thoughts?

If that's the case, that would be great, I would put money into that. I am just not familiar enough with the process of getting ammo across. If we could arrange that, lot of people would be very happy.

The process has been very well discussed in Ammo thread. Anyone can import the ammo if it's on approved list...takes a lot of time though.

The importer I talked to Prophet River Firearms located in Lloydminster. They said in average it will take them 6-8 weeks to bring ammo to their location. Once they would get all paperwork done on Canada side, their USA partner then would apply for export papers. When it's done, the end user should pay for ammo and get it shipped to their USA partner in Montana (I guess Leroy - btw, I talked to him as well and he for $150 could bring the ammo to the border crossing if end user would provide Import Certificate). Bittermansbro, call me if you wish to discuss this in russian 780-995-8042

Count me in on import ammo from the states, who will take care of this? I will vouch for at least 500 rounds as long as it is reloadable.

I have initiated the process. The importer will get back to me with all details soon. I'm planning to order 4000 rounds(will keep at least 500 for myself :D). I will post updates as soon as they will come. keep in mind that this will take time...

I'd be in for some ammo as well TP, and more depending on price.

One thing for sure though, even if not all sells off the bat, I am sure people will buy once its up.

I've been away for a while and in catching up I've been closely looking at this thread. You guys have definately got more experience in this area than I do so here's my question. Is there a marked difference in the 7.62 for the Nagant compared to the 7.62 for the tokarov? Is this a major difference like between the .38 S&W and the .38 Special or is it more subtle?

Nagant uses unique cartridges to seal the gap...

Just google 7.62x38R (Nagant) and 7.62x25 (Tokarev), check the images, and you'll quickly see the difference.

I reload for mine. It is a pain!! I will use 32/20 brass and I have a few commercial casses. 32/20 rims must be thinned and are short in length (no gas seal) but they do go bang. For some reason with the commercial loads are hard to eject where the 32/20 empties fall right out. I use both cast and the wadcuter style bullet that TRADEX sells as well as the LEE dies they have. Also I must anneal case mouth's after each firing or they will split. Count me in for some factory ammo.

Thanks for the info guys. I'd never really paid much attention to Nagant pistols, but now that I have, there seems to be quite a few around. Not a bad looking revolver and it looks like it would fit my hand better than my Blackhawk.(grips are too short for comfort)

.32-20 brass works well but is a little short and will not achive a gas seal. .32 S&W long works well but is really short and accuracy is OK but not great.
If you had a .32 acp cylinder, you would have a prohibited revolver! Stupid law!

Good news, Canadian paperwork for importing is completed. Hopefully, American export papers would not take long. But considering Christmas, I would not expect the ammo to be here before the middle of January. Price wise, well our dollar is not as good as couple month ago :(
