In the March/April Rifle Shooter, CZ advertises 2 new chamberings in their Express Rifle.... .375 Ruger and it's .416 brother. My prediction is that more manufacturers will follow soon. The King is here to stay. :)

There's good thinking....Using a 4 inch long action capable of holding the 505 Gibbs for a sawed off and stubby short action cartridge......At least Ruger got the right action length:D

Gatehouse,
The letter writing campaign must be paying off! ;)

The CZ folks have done this before when they chambered the .458 Winchester in the Brno 602 instead of the 600. This is is a happy situation for the folks who want to rechamber to .458 Lott, but it sure leaves lots of room in the magazine when loaded with Winchester rounds.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more manufacturers chamber rifles for The New King. Ruger has been selling these as fast as they can produce them, thier sales have been far, far greater than they ever expected.

No other .375 caliber rifles have sold this many is such a short period of time...;)

I'm sure that CZ would have chambered "the king" in their standard (30-06) length action AKA the BRNO 600 as opposed to their magnum length action AKA the BRNO 602?

IIRC their .458 WM chambering in the 602/550 had some feed problems due to the shorter OAL of the .458 WM. A guy I worked with had his 602/550 re-chambered in .458 Lott and the feed problems disappeared.

The Ruger in the Hawkeye makes sence. In the 550, forget it. The H&H looks like a .22 in there. Same as short mags, in a tiny, lightweight gun they're O.K. in a standard size they're silly.

Bandwagon, there's a bandwagon?? I'm next, let me jump on.

Hi folks, total newbie here at CGN, just picked up a Ruger African last week, and currently looking for glass to top it off. Can't wait to get it out to the range.

Well, that is a great post from a newbie. No funny talk about Sharps and 7mm's this and 7mm's that. Keep talking like that and you will fit right in with the cool crowd.

X2, Well that is suppose to be the appeal of the .375 Ruger, that it can be had in a smaller, lighter rifle,(not the Brno 602).

Otherwise one should just stay with the Holland and Holland round.

I mentioned that the .375 Ruger was in the CZ, not the RCM, which is their sawed off and stubby short action cartridge. The .375 Ruger measures 3.340", standard length, the RCM and others measure in at 2.860", short action length.

With an attitude like that all you have to worry about is when you displace todbartell as Gatehouse's new best friend!

Within 10 years, the ,375 Ruger will have outsold all the 375 RUM's 378's and 375 Weatherbys combined.:D

Well no kidding! The only thing close to rational in that list is the 375 Weatherby and it was dead for years before a feeble resurgence. As for the 375 RUM, I probably have more 303s that there are 375 RUMs in Canada!

If they offer it in the CZ 550 medium action ( same as the 9.3x62/7mm rem mag/ 300 win) I think they'll sell a bunch of them. I'd sure be interested in a 550 medium in 416 ruger , less so the 375 but only because Ive already got a couple 9.3's
