NEA 14" modified heavy barrel - FAIL

I was annoyed, but it did only take about 5 minutes with my Dremel, a felt wheel, and some polish, to smooth out my chamber.

Shouldn't have come that way, but it's not hard to deal with yourself.

And there I was counting yours as the one that worked out of the box...
Guess that's 4 out of 4. If they were advertised as 90% barrel, maybe. One thing for sure they're not drop in, and require work.

Seems I'm the only one where it wouldn't even fit the receiver tho, the chamber I didn't really care about: like you said, that's an easy fix. But I had bigger problems.

I know I've posted that I polished it in at least one of the threads on these barrels, but I guess this thread had me thinking of the fit issues primarily and it slipped my mind.

Sorry to screw up your count!!!;)

Well after going through 4 different 870's trying to make a working match, a couple jammed rounds and some polishing I think I mayhave a reliable shotgun one my hands. I was/am determined to not go Chinese, was it worth it?! Here she is already to go.

Looks like fun! I think that's the XS big dot right?
Hope it's goes well from now on for you.

If its worth it depends how much you paid for it, full retail is 50$ from Dlask... I paid much less for mine, but it wasn't worth s**t.

Given the choice I'd go with the XS.
The ghost ring is nice but it didn't work as well as I tough they would for me. The XS looks like it would be much faster, you probably don't need to focus at all with this thing on.

This is my experience also.

I have one 870 with SGT ghost ring sights on it and 2 with the XS Big Dot, one with a fiber optic bead, one with the XS DEA sights, one (separate barrel) with a cantilever scope mount and one (separate barrel (with a silver bead front and the smaller silver mid-bead). I find the XS Big Dot about the fastest for shooting shot (either bird shot or buckshot), the XS DEA sights the fastest for shooting both buck and slug and at least as accurate as the ghost ring sights. Obviously the scope is best for a dedicated slug gun if you're looking for accuracy above all else...

+1 for epic fail to eject shot shell (it was jammed in there good). I guess its time to crack out the drill and steel wool. I havent read the whol forum, but is NEA offering any sort of solution to this?

They emailed me back after a couple weeks and suggested drill+bore brush+oil to make right. But steel wool I think might be better!

I havnt owned a Chinese gun, but have seen and shot a bunch... Poor fit and finish is what turns me off..

Wow, epic fail by NEA putting out these barrels...

I still can remember when we were talking here on the forum with them back in the days. They were asking us what kind of barrel are we interesting in and when we told them just that, they decided to go otherwise. I stopped paying any attention to anything NEA since then. I guess that I saved myself a lot of troubles. What a joke...TWK

As opposed to NEA?

Fit and finish is pretty darn good on my HP9.

With the chinese guns you pretty have to go by the model as quality does vary greatly. If you're talking about a Homeland 780 I'd agree with you, fit and finish leave a lot to be desired. Start talking about a HP9 and I'd disagree. You could even use the same comparison for NEA, lots of people are happy with their VZ and AR parts (I didn't say everyone), but start talking about their shotgun barrels and the tone will quickly change.

I bought a Heavy Profile 14 inch NEA 870 barrel and it wouldn't fit in any of my 870s or HP9s. I ended up selling it on the exchange. I have no idea how they guy who bought it fared. I hope he had better luck then I did.
