NEA 14" modified heavy barrel - FAIL

Well my shorty barrel quest is all over now, thanks to Dlask...

12.5" threaded for remchokes...
Fit and finish is just perfect, there is no comparison between Dlask and NEA, well worth the extra cash.
I'm still waiting for my MOE forend so we'll see if it needs sanding (not that I really care).

Guess i found this thread to late, and of course im posting because i have problems with my new nea medium 14 barrel

Racking ths 870 with this barrel is a #####, no probs with 18.5 police barrel and its not the fore-end.
 
freddy true i need to have sights installed, but can you tell me what was the fix for the racking issue?

I dont want to end up paying another $100 just to get it fixed.
 
I know exactly what Casey thinks of the NEA barrels (not much). I bought a DA barrel, and it was so far out of indexing that my extracter wouldn't fit in the slot in the barrel. I got rid of it and got a Dlask. It is the only aftermarket barrel I would even consider now

I wish I had be patient and waited for the next batch of Dlask barrels instead of going NEA. The NEA was half the price but by the end of it I'm probably a $100 more now. Lesson learned!
 
Anyone know the barrels lengths Dlask produces? I know I've seen some 12.5"s around lately, but haven't seen a 14" for a little while. Also whats the cost for these approx? (nothing on the site)
 
I got a 14" afew months ago for $300, and the differance is night and day. There is plenty of meat for threaded chokes if you want (and the inside of the barrel isn't parkerised). I would prefer an actual Remington (I have one of those too) but this is the next best.
 
I'm looking for a 12.5" dlask barrel, anyone have one for sale? ;) I don't see any on the Dlask site.

Does Dlask also make 8.5" barrels? I'd like to convert one of my wingmasters to a super shorty.
 
Call Dlask, when I ordered mine they never went up on the website. He might still have some.

NEA as i understand come from aircraft manufacturing background, if so i hope i never get on aircraft they had any parts made for. A barrel has to be one of the simplest things to make (if your a weapons manufacturing company a barrel should be kids play), yet they manage to screw this up like you have never seen. I have spoken to a few people about these new barrels and the same issue keeps coming up.

Come on NEA take your finger out your ass and just make a f'ing barrel to the same spec as the remington one.

Mine is fixed (NEW BATCH) and having a bead sight installed, but it should not need fixing to start.

I would recommend anyone who wants a 14inch barrel to call DLASK, $300 for peace of mind is nothing, and i wish i had done this in the first place. It never accourd to me that they could f*** this up. :mad:
