I don't know if this is the best day to be posting these with all the drama that has ensued, but I just received my NEA-15 14.5" with 12" rail from Ryan at SFRC (Thanks Ryan!) after a little bit of a wait.

Posting these as everyone likes a little black rifle #### now and then, be it Norinco, LMT, DD or even NEA. :D

A little about the rifle:

Yes, it's not without issues. I received one of the FUBAR BCG, my castle nut was only finger tight and not staked, I am experiencing the same cocking handle "grind" or "rub" on the receiver end plate as mac100 experienced, and there's a little more play between the receivers than I would like (probably just my OCD).

With that said, the NEA customer support ticket process works(a little slow today, but I think they have their hands full dealing with other issues.) and they are sending a new BCG my way, just waiting on responses for the other issues.

Overall, the weight of the rifle surprised me, as it is extremely light. I found the front rail comfortable to grip. Finish was great, a couple stains on the barrel but meh, it will still put rounds down range. I don't find the trigger weight bad either, a little gritty feeling, but I think with time it will work in. PMags seem a little loose in the mag well, but it helps with reload drills as the mags slide right out.

I may be biased (as I spent a pretty penny on it) but I really like the feel and look of the rifle. Looking forward to taking it to the range and shooting the S*** out of her. Will post back when that's complete.

Hope you all enjoy my attempt at being a bad ass firearms photographer. If you want to use the pictures as a wallpaper - download as you please ;)

Sorry, but in light of current events, I'm going to take this thread with a grain of salt.

How are the internals? You've shown some pretty pictures of the outside, but it's what's inside that counts.

Again, why was this let out the door at SFRC, nevermind NEA? I'm sorry but come on, it's a $1000 paper weight in its current state...

Recall all of the damn rifles that went out on this last batch and get this s**t sorted out already, too busy on the interwebz when they should be focusing on QC

Pretty, but useless.

Edit to add: I also found it funny that you're thanking Ryan... He let this useless $1000 paper weight leave his shop, it shouldve been fixed before being delivered...

Dude thats an awesome looking rifle, I got the 9" rail on my 14.5", my BCG(s) are FUBAR and my charging handle grinds and jams on the receiver plate only if I charge it very slowly and downwards, but no one does that. I haven't checked my castle nut but everything seems solid and when my issues are worked out, I will shoot the s**t outta her too :) never mind all this drama going on, we will enjoy our rifles

Thanks 50cal, but I'm not a member and do not have the time to investigate. I'm guessing NEA has a new credibility problem which is unfortunate if true as it would be good to have successful local production.

That is an extremely disappointing thread H:S: I'd like to think there is some mistake or honest explanation but I don't think so :(

I am sure Greentips has a good explanation, once he is back from vacation this should be sorted out in good time

There are references as to where to look for more information towards the end of this thread.

NEA was a victim of certain individual(s) as well.

Well I'm not gonna rain on the parade. Looks like a real nice rifle can't wait to hear how it shoots and I'm sure the drama on this forum shouldn't change how it shoots :)

Very nice. It's a great looking rifle and I'm thrilled we have a Canadian made AR as an option. I have wanted one since I learned about NEA, but my opinion has never changed that I am not willing to pay for product that hasn't even been made yet. As with any "new" product, I prefer to see/inspect something before I commit. That being said, as soon as SFRC has one on the rack I'll be in there with my reading glasses and a pocket full of cash.:)

Why not take a trip to Gormley and check out Target Sports? They have a couple of NEAs that you can not only look over with your reading glasses, you can shoot them at their indoor range! I don't want to steer you away from SFRC, heck that is who I got mine from, but Target Sports is the only place in the country that I am aware of that has actually had some sitting on the shelf, several times since the launch, just waiting for buyers with a pocket of cash :)

I say SFRC because it's local vs. 6 hours in the truck to go to Target Sports. Pretty darn cool that you can shoot one at TS though... and they have NEA's on the rack for sale? Very interesting... I thought the NEA's were blind order, pre-pay only unobtainim.

Thanks for the comments gents! Glad you enjoyed the pics! Unfortunately I am in no way connected to NEA, other than I have a support ticket open for the issues stated prior.

I bought NEA because the price was good and you can't beat a lifetime warranty. It would have been nice to get an operational rifle, right out of the box (which really I should have for what was paid) but I waited 3 months on the preorder list, I figure I can wait a little longer, and all will be good. NEA has already stated they'd be sending out a new BCG, but still waiting to hear back about the other issues.

I wonder whats causing the cocking handle grind that Lockon, mac100 and I are experiencing though. Cocking handle too thick out of spec?, or the receiver end plate too large?

As well there appears to be no recessed notches on the castle nut to stake it, can I just throw some blue locktite on it?

Target Sports has three for range use. If you want a true test of reliability put a gun on the line at Target Sports. They have Glocks on the line with six figure round counts and they are still going strong. If you want to know if a gun will take lots of abuse ask the guys about the range guns. They'll let you know what parts break and when.

I've given NEA the benefit of the doubt and have recommended their product to multiple people I know. In light of the drama on here and the recurring quality issues, I won't be spending my money with NEA or recommending their product to anyone. My conscience will not allow me to. Pretty sad all around.

Just tighten your castle nut with a proper ar stock wrench and don't worry about it. Staking and locktite are rather premature given that you are still working out some issues.
