Just so everyone knows, SFRC, in their usual awesome form, over-nighted me a BCG for my NEA PDW. I could have waited for it, so as far as I am concerned, they went above and beyond to get me one. It looks fantastic and is properly staked. Oh and it has Tai bolts
So thanks to SFRC!
Initial impressions:
The issues that have affected a few other people have not reared up during normal function tests. Charging handle clears the buffer tube, the quad rail is secure, and overall the action is very smooth. It chambers and ejects snap caps no problem.
While there is the odd machining mark here and there, and only around what I assume are more mathematically complex structures for the machine to deal with, the fit and finish of the rifle are excellent. Way better than my Norc CQ-A. There is minimal wobble between the lower and upper. Much less than my Norc.
There is a slight colour disparity between the upper and lower. The upper is slightly darker. It is probably a minor difference. I do a lot of airbrushing and my eyes have been trained to recognized colour gradients with even the slightest differences. Most people may not even see what I see on the gun.
The BCG is properly staked and quite a nice piece.
So I am happy for now. I love SBRs, and as long as this one functions properly, this will probably take the place as my main SBR.
I will be doing a range session within the next 2 weeks. I plan on running 3-4 hundred rounds through the rifle at that time. I am going to document the day with my Go-Pro strapped to my noggin. I'll be doing a quick 50yd zero with the sparc and then attempt some groups at 40/60/100m. I will then take it on the action range and do some quick fire to see how it handles that.
I'll try and vary the ammo from 55 to 62gr and I'll use commercially available stuff that isn't MFS. It's bad enough I use that junk in my pistols lol.
