What's the purpose is a better question.
I'm with beltfed. I shoot my long guns lefty and have never had a need or want for a left-specific ar.
I'm like a little girl and flinch a little bit when the brass flies past my face.
I hope you're no ones parent or shooting teacher.

Never had a problem with an upper with a case deflector. Without - hell yes!
Ever tried a brass catcher?
If you buy one of our rifles for your daughter, let me know and I'll give her one of mine.
Flinch? Try hot brass bouncing off my face or down my shirt while in the prone.
In 23 years with the AR family I have never caught brass coming straight out of the gun. I would bet she is flinching at the recoil and noise more than anything, or quite possibly gas in her face. Get a good set of glasses/goggles that help with that. Maybe a compensator/brake? Would tame the recoil but may add noise/blast to the equasion.
The standard AR is ideal for lefties as there is no need to tilt the gun for IAs and stopages. I would never invest in one that ejected to the left, and think it's a dead horse for a manufacturer to chase.
One thing I must repeat though: MID-LENGTH Carbines!!!![]()

I still have burn scars on my lower back from back in the day.

I thought it may be the recoil as well. Then she fired the Rem 788 without issues. She flinches less, but still does flinch, with the 10/22. Only thing I can think of is the brass flying in front of her face.
Not shooting an SP1 I am guessing?
