Just bought on older(grey) NEA handguard to complete a build I'm doing, but it didn't have a barrel nut, just wondering if a generic barrel nut will work or did NEA have a specific model for their handguards?been a while since I used one of their handguards on a build and honestly can't remember if they are compatible or not.

Thread should read: NEA barrel? nuts!
Cuz one would have to be nuts to buy an NEA barrel.

Didn't ask for BS slagging.ive had plenty of NEA products me have never had any major trouble, and I'd happily buy more of their products.

Thanks to anyone who contributed a helpful answer.

I am no longer an NEA fan for various reasons, but the 14.5" barrel I had was oustanding for accuracy, got rid of it due to being a heavy profile.

Apologies for the thread hijack

NEA barrels are/were very good quality, they're made from premium quality, name brand blanks. Knock 'em all you want on other stuff, the barrels are solid.

What name brand would that be? (Genuinely curious)

I've always been vaguely curious why they wouldn't advertise the brand of their high quality blanks.
Or does the supplier not want their name associated with NEA/another company?

How I found out is a long story, but I can't explain without compromising that person, and breaking my word. I won't do that. Believe it, or don't believe it, but those barrels are made from excellent quality blanks.

I had thought someone said Walther at some point, but no idea.i can speak from experience and say the 14.5" 7.62x39 barrel I have is exceptionally accurate considering the round(not surplus but new product dominion FMJ )and the 18" and 10.5" 5.56 barrels I've had from them are excellent

So you've HAD trouble, just nothing major.

Like a dog with a bone. The haters just can't let go.

Really though.

Yeah Dietz I had an issue with my 7.5" rifle, that I built from parts(NEA upper, lower, barrel and BCG)had a failed extractor after 2000 or so rounds,it cracked and did a bit of damage to the upper inside.nothing that would actually affect the function, but I k ew it was there and I didn't like it.after I contacted them, not only did they replace the BCG,not just the extractor on the bolt, but the entire BCG,they also replaced my upper.

From my experience with other companies and their warrenty, they immediately ask if you built it or bought it as a complete, and if it was a parts gun, your #### out of luck with any warrenty.

And considering I paid less then 800 for the whole rifle, and it's still running strong years later with minor maintence shooting less then stellar quality ammo(norinco and MFS Steel case for the most part)I'd like to think it's a fairly reliable gun,not to mention how good NEA is with customer support.

I wish I had as much to say about other manufactures I've bought products from(Troy,para...hell even ruger was a less then ideal experience )

I'll happily keep supporting NEA because I know the they are backed by the best customer service in the country.sure they had some initial problems, but from what I've seen and experienced, the products have come leaps and bounds from the initial product.

Not hating, I have no reason to hate. I simply like and seek truth. I highlight it whenever possible to try to prevent future buyers from having a real reason to hate NEA.

I know your history with them, don't go there.
