NEA non-restricted black rifle coming?

My vote goes to the non-restricted black rifle with flat-top rail and interchangeable AR parts e.g. magazine, some trigger parts, grip, stock, handguard, flash hider (even barrel) etc. The modification of AR-180B system could be the good start as its patent might be already expired.

Whatever it is please make a version without a quad rail or at least with the possibility of normal hand guards. Quad rails =:puke:

How about a bolt action rifle in .223,

How they could make it worth buying? A 30rnd Mag that just Happens to fit an AR.

Come on NEA your a Canadian company you know our pain.

You have to know there is a massive market for this. Just make it a package deal the rifle plus ten mags, then there will be lots of rifles to warrant your latter mag sales.

:)

Dear NEA people: My vote and absolute want is a light weapon system wich is under 900$ range, takes ar type mags, is ergonomic, .223 caliber, reliable and robust.

My take is a SKS type clone bolt catch equiped, with a top rail, 18.6 inch barrel with a AR type brake, wich take ar mags and tapco furniture. Lets make it in aluminium....for weight purposes....

Choose your colour !

It is a decent Canadian made gun project.
This rifle could fill the needs forall type of CGN shooters: plinkers at the range, SHTF fans, or coyote hunters....

All we need is a decent priced unrestricted,.223 rugged, AR mag compatible gun in the market under 1K to make any eventual Cannuck gun maker a millionnaire.

This gun would fits the needs of all cannuck gunuts for sure....just my two cents...

It could be named the CGN-AR ????

And less AR parts as possible, for classification purposes....all the accessorires are already on the market, so why going with anything too complicated and pricey for nothing ?

Believe it or not, the SKS is actually quite difficult and expensive to produce - probably more expensive than an AR15.

China can make them cheap only because they are making millions of them at a time.

There are far less expensive designs to manufacture than a modern take on the SKS.

Just my humble opinion.

I in for two CGN-AR type rifles for under 1K, if NEA is ready to desing AND MAKE it....
My visa is ready ! I saw so much treads about bringing the SKS in 223 on this board, why not launching such money making and gap filling gun, instead of building restricted guns ?

Claven, i'm with you on this one. Perhaps the action type is pricey to build (i am not an ingeneer or a gun maker of course), all we need is a Candian made rifle with all these caracteristics to fill the black gun gap in our market in the 1K range.

It's just too much for lots of guys to put 2500 on a XCR or 3K or more on a swiss arms. More unrestricted black guns on the market= more new gunnuts.

So claven, wich action would you select for such project ? It,s about cloning a system wich will not bring a Canadian gun maker to court for cloning copyrighted system like the XCR.....It's about doing the project, not just dreaming of it....lol !

:popCorn:Thats the nice part about doing an AR-180B

1. Its a proven design

2. Its already classified as non-restricted.

3. And it can share parts they already make from their AR-15 line.

Seems like a perfect solution for a made in Canada company.

Part of the reason the 180B was relatively affordable was it's polymer/plastic/whateverthef**kitwas . Would they conceivably made their version made out of aluminum?

Regardless of what it is, we need more non-restricteds in the Canadian marketplace. I personally think a short-throw bolt action carbine chambered for 9mm/.40 S&W/.45 ACP with 10" barrels that used 1911 or Glock type magazines would be a popular seller. Put a low mount picitinny rail on it for low powered optics or dot sights and I think it would be near perfect.

It wouldn't be a complicated or overly expensive design to produce for NEA so the pricing would certainly be reasonable. There's plenty of existing bolt rifle designs that can be scaled down for such a project. The mini-mauser comes to mind.

(not directed at you Claven)
Have a look at the vz58 and sks for those that can. Milled receiver, similar piston system, but the SKS trigger group is more complicated, magazine are made with the rifle(no third party doing them), along with having a full stock.
So, vz58s start around $7-800.
Plus tooling start up costs.

No one is going to pay that for a sks, unless it's some rare one.
The SKS is well built. <$200 we are paying is a steal.
