NEA/PCFGA Team 3 Gun Match, October 4/5, Peace River, AB. Two spots open!

If everyone who is registered and on the wait list could please send me an email, I would greatly appreciate it. I need to put a comprehensive mailing list together.

I only need one email per team as team mates can forward the info to each other.

Email to stevo@persona.ca and include your team name and both shooters names, please.

Thanks,

Steve

Edit: please pass this request on to anyone you know is registered but does not belong to CGN or frequent it often.

Coaching. Hmm I don't believe following behind a team mate and directing is cool IMO. Generally our SOs will be generous with the help but this is still a match.

It's your show, boys, your call. Following close behind and doing a voice over seems like a bit much, IMO. :)

How about spectators / team mate calling missed shots? Reminding the shooter of targets not yet engaged? Easily done from behind the firing line.

Yeah, instructing is way over the top. I don't care for non-team mates calling out missed targets or shots.

I don't see a problem with team mates talking to one another, it happened last year and was fine. Following another team through the course coaching is just silly! Why not just give them your points

As per below, coaching is the last of my concerns at this point. This has been sent to one member of each team that I have email addresses for.

Please read the whole email first rather than panic right away.

Here's the deal; we recently had a CFO range inspection. Apparently we've been operating inside the wrong template for the last 30 years despite all the previous inspections. Our pistol bays and rifle range have been de-certified, though strangely the CFO won't say we're "closed". But it certainly would not allow us to run the team match, as it sits.

Given our range location it is not possible to do work on the longer ranges, past 200m, until freeze-up. The CFO has said he will issue partial certification for the rifle range and the pistol bays if we do a bunch of dirt work. PCFGA executive feels that we should be able to have the pistol bays and the 50 and 100m rifle ranges re-certified by mid to late September. It won't permit us to include longer range shots, but we can run the match.

We're also exploring the option to hold it in Fort St. John. I really don't want to do this, as I know it would cause many of the long-distance teams to withdraw due to the extra travel time and it puts a hell of a kink in my planning and organization.

Obviously, the final option is cancellation. And I REALLY don't want to do that.

At this time, my plan is to go with a shorter-ranged match in PR. It only affects one stage per day and makes my life a hell of a lot easier. I hope to be able to make a final go/no-go decision by Sept. 19. Waiting that long may rule out moving the match to FSJ as it's really not fair to give that little notice to them . We'll be talking with the FSJ club president next week when he gets back from hunting.

We've had two teams drop out today. I'm waiting to hear back from the first two teams on the waiting list.

As there's only 3 teams on the wait list, any new teams getting on the wait list may have a pretty good chance of making the match.

Still haven't heard back from the wait list teams. I'm going to give them another day or two and then will move on to anyone who wants to register.

Got three spots open now. The southern guys are dropping like flies.

Next year I'll suggest to whoever MDs that they take registrations with money up front.

More prizes for the guys who show up, I guess.
