NEA Stock Adaptor and Fibre Optic Front Sight Pics

seeing as how your replacing the old sites, has anyone though about making some sort of custom front site base that doesn't have the old site but retains the bayo lug, and maybe even update it to use some new kind of bayonet. just a thought.

We have a new front barrel clamp coming out that lets you move your front back up iron further forward. We are looking to launch a packge later in the year containing the front clamp, stock adapter and a set of Troy back up irons................... lets just say its going to be very affordable.

cant wait, what do we do with the original? if we remove it we will loose the pin that retains and barrel attachment we'll need some sort of cut original base no? like the following, my half a**ed attempt with paint, i didn't want to open photo shop.

Can't we still keep the front sight if we want?
Anything that gives me a longer sight plane is welcome.
I'm not interested in looks, all I want is efficiency and a longer sighting plane with a rear peep sight is best for me.
That rear block makes me dream of a bolt-on (or clamp-on) integral drum peep unit mounted just at the right elevation for the actual front sight. This would probably shrink the groups we already get with the standard setup without any optical trickery.
Just good solid iron sights... and you still could have the option of a rear base, if you so design it.
Oh well, perhaps this sounds too much old-fashioned, doesn't it? ;)

Not so old fashioned to me. In theory, it sounds right. What type of weight would be added by the barrel clamp/front BUIS?

I really don't know.
I'm talking about keeping the original front sight in its original location at the end of the barrel because this is the way to gain additional sighting plane with a well designed new rear-mounted peep.
I don't need a straight stock to reduce recoil of "the mighty 7,62x39 round", because doing so will force every "modern" sighting apparatus to sit a short furlong over the action-barrel plane and this is another no-no.
I don't want a denatured VZ-58 that looks, weighs and tastes like an AR, I don't need an AR.
I want no-nonsense innovative add-ons that improve the VZ's already fast handling and no bulky, weighty stuff that changes the rifle's neutral balance.
Is that too much to ask for?

With back up irons on the rear stock adapter and front hand guard the sight radius is actually longer then the factory set up.

The more, the better.

Exactly what I was thinking. It would be the longest sight plane possible and it would keep the rifle closer to stock formation. Maintaining the low overall weight and balance would be great too. I guess we can dream. We never know what may come in the future with NEA, NEIT, and Rauch making all of these great products.

Thanks to all of you guys.

At least, now they got two different kind of customers: the old grumpy iron sight shooters ;) and the young "gimme-all-the-new-stuff-you-can-design" crowd.
What not to like? Twice the challenge and, I wish them, twice the money!

I just realized I forgot to include this pic. It shows the stock adaptor, the steel, collared insert that goes into the receiver, and the bolt. I don't know if it was designed that way but the insert has two flat sides that you can use with a 13mm wrench to spin it in.

Here's a few more pics of the fibre optic sights and of the NEA upper/lower handguard with a Bushnell TRS-25 on it. It gives a bottom 1/3-ish co-witness on the NEA rail.

The bench was in the shade so it doesn't really show how bright the FO is in the sun, but you get the idea.
