Need a better powder measure

All I can say is don't get the Quick Measure dispenser... bought one, had it replaced, ended up returning it. Was no better than my Dillon or Hornady dispernsers.

If you do a lot of different loads the easiest system is an electronic dispensing. package. I use PACT who also make (do they still?) the RCBS systems.

No RCBS is using a different company to build their scales and dispensers.
I have a Pact scale and dispenser(will be getting rid of it soon) and the dispenser is junk and the scale is OK but not great. Just purchased a RCBS Chargemaster Combo and it is great, I would highly recommend the RCBS setup. The Pact stuff is like using 70's technology compared to the new RCBS.

For rifles I use the RCBS Chargemaster. i love it.

For single stage pistol loading I use a Redding BR30. I got it because I disliked the Uniflow.

One trick I learned for powder throwers is a restrictor plate in the resevoir so the pressure on the powder does not change as you load. I made one by triming a paper funnel so it fits inside. It is installed upside down (look like a little volcano in there).

I have both the uniflow and the lee perfect powder measure. The Lee is more accurate, but not as ergonomic. I find that I have given up direct throwing except in my 223, I setup the powder measure about 3 grains under my load and trickle in the rest.

I found with the Lee Perfect Powder measurer, that if you bump or tap it, you will have inconcistincies. If you don't it is bang on.

Hmm, I am the other way around. For consistency, I tap the measure regularly. The Lyman 55 even has a tapper built in. I tap it a few times at the top of the stroke, and again at the bottom.

Thanks I wasn't sure if RCBS were still using PACT. My current setup is a Pact dispenser linked to an RCBS scale. I've had no problems with this rig I consistently get to .1 grain accuracy on 70 grain charges using stick powders. I did have my dispenser upgraded to the quicker dispensing times by Pact -it was a bit slow before.

It is good to hear that someone has had some luck with the Pact stuff, I sure didn't. If you ever need to replace what you have now I would highly recommend the new RCBS Chargemaster Combo, easy to use just calibrate the scale and then put in powder and punch in the powder weight and it does the rest and beeps at you when it is done. If you are doing a number of the same load you can set the auto dispense feature and when the empty pan is placed back on the scale it starts on the next charge.

I have a Pact dispenser and scale. I have had very good luck with both handgun and rifle charges. I really like the auto zero function on the scale. The 4 point scale calibration cycle gives me high confidence in accuracy. I agree that it would be nice if it looked a bit higher end, but I have no complaints on the function.

I have a Hornady powder measure. It works well. It had some issues when I bought it (used) so I had to clean up the threads on the micrometer. I'm sure it would work much better if it was new. even still it works good. Its more that i don't trust it but it has never let me down yet.
