'Need' a classy 30/06

A Husqvarna 1600 would be my suggestion. Purchased my 30-06 from Tradex. I shortened the barrel to 22", added a Limsaver pad, bedded the action, and refinished the stock. Shoots 1" MOA if I do my part and has that classic look and feel.

A lot of beauty rifles here! I know a lot of guys love the Win M70 and I do too, but I already shoot a M70.

Looks, this example is just about perfect for what I'm looking for. Thank you for sharing.

You can make one the same, the HVA 98's are still around for $300-$400.
Gentry safety is around $400.
Decent walnut stock around $400.
Couple hundred bucks Smith work and you have your rifle.

I've been casually search for an /06 for a while now that just screams classic. What I know I want is CRF action, iron sights great walnut stock, 20"-22" barrel.

What I am considering is:
Brno ZKK 600
Brno ZG47
Husky 1600
Parker & Hale
Ruger RS

Wondering if you gentlemen you care to add your opinions and suggestions on what I have listed and if I have missed any great options.

Pics of your rifles wouldn't hurt either!

Browning Safari Grades aren't on your list. You can usually get a 30-06 for around $800-$1150 depending on condition. Some nut job on another site has one for up for sale for $2000 with a refinished stock, I wouldn't go near that one. That rifle would be one to add to your list of good rifles to look for.

I sometimes pine over rifles I've acquired and later sold for a "profit". One such being a pre-64 Model 70 in 30.06 in close to pristine, all original, unmolested condition. I did make a very reasonable profit on its sale but given today's circumstances I sure wish I'd have kept it. Hindsight.

I'm another one to suggest looking at a M70 Winchester Super Grade. I have one in 300 WSM (just because I got it for the right price). Great shooter, great looks (to me at least). No iron sights if that is a deal breaker.
