I've decided to start looking at options to replace my Ruger 22/45 Mk.III. It's given me good service, but it's not quite what I'm looking for in a handgun. I want something a little more 'full-size' that I can 'sling-shot'. I'm used to my USP .45 FWIW. I've narrowed my options down but I might be missing something:
-.22 1911, would have to wait for one from Armco that was cheap enough though
-Tanfoglio Force .22, but the lack of reviews make me wonder (P22 experience makes relability a top priority).
-Sig Mosquito.... is it really that bad???
CZ Kadet, a tad expensive but still an option I suppose.
-Beretta U22 Neos, but it's not really a 'full size' type pistol

Too bad you don't like the Mark III 22/45 . I was once consider the Kimber 1911 .22 is a very nice gun, CZ kadet has a steel flame and they are all good. IMO Beretta Neo looks more like a water gun than a real gun, they may shoot okay but just look funny to me. I saw the Mosquito at Leverarms and this gun looks real hot. But I was told the gun come with another recoil spring for lighter gr ammo and this clearly tell us the gun has design problem. I had a P22, it never had any FTF or FTE problem, the only problem was the screws keeping pop out and the slide worn out after 1800 rounds.

For a full sized 22, you might also want to take a look at a Beretta 87 or a used 89. They are a little different, but extremely accurate and a pleasure to use.

Too bad you did not get a Glock instead of the HK... You could have bought a Advantage Arms conversion kit

On the other hand, it's a good excuse to join the Glock club ;)

Well, ooh la la!
Get a Kimber 1911 .22, or the Kadet, fancy pants!

Oh go fancy-pants yourself buddy. :p
CZ 75-SP01 Tactical, Fabarm Martial Pro Forces 14"

I think I'll go with the Tanfoglio, assuming I can trade off to Armco and he can bring one in for me. It appears to be a good balance of size, price, and full-size features.

What do you mean by 'full-size'?

How about a S&W model 41 or a High Standard? Both are about the same size as a larger calibre gun. Or are you looking for a center fire pattern gun with a .22 conversion kit?

I also don't know what you mean by 'sling-shot'.

By full-size I meant a larger pistol overall, chunkier grip, full-legth slide or at least some sort of slide (rather than the Ruger bolt and bolt ear design). Sling-shot, as is my understanding, means that you can have a loaded magazine in the gun with the bolt already locked back, pull back on the slide/bolt, and have it fly forward.

Not really looking for a conversion kit, that's a shade more money that I wanted though I suppose for the cost of a dedicated higher-class .22 I might as well get a cheaper glock and a conversion kit or cheaper 1911 and conversion kit.....hmmm

Browning Buck Mark. Very reliable and incredibly accurate. I've had one for 10 yrs. and would never even consider another .22. 10 out of 10!

Another vote for the BuckMark. It definitely out shoots me and the URX grip fits my hand nicely. It is very reliable and eats pretty much anything you feed it without a hiccup. It may not be your cup of tea styling wise if your looking for a 1911 style gun in .22

Not really a die-hard 1911 fan, don't even have one actually. Though I should really reconsider the idea of a 9mm with conversion kit a la glock or CZ. When I first shopped for my Ruger, I did like the Buckmark but discounted it partly on cost. I'll take another gander at those as well.

Have you tried a S&W model 41 or a High Standard model Citation? (A High Standard model Victor would be better but I don't have one yet.) Would you like to borrow them to try?

I'm not interested in selling but you can shoot them if you want. I'm in Winnipeg.

I shoot at the Selkirk Game and Fish range, though I'd mentioned to a Firing Line member (CGN'r actually) that we should get a little group to go shoot there one day. I hear good things about the S&W 41.
