I have 3 Winchester 190's that are actually my most fun guns. The first one I got was so accurate and reliable, I ended up getting 2 more as they came up. Might just have to get a fourth soon. Just. so. completely. addicted. to semi-auto .22's
I have an old Remington 550-1 that shoots .22shorts so well, (I don't even care that that it won't shoot .22lr's that its supposed to shoot. There is a ring in the chamber that I only discovered after buying it. It has a special chamber insert that allows it to cycle .22 shorts. BUT, because short rounds had corrosive priming for a long time, once someone started to shoot shorts in the gun, it left a ring at the beginning of the .22lr portion of the chamber that balloons all the brass. But the short brass misses the ring, and reliably shoots the short stuff quiet as a mouse.
I wish it shot .22lr, but I love having a .22 short semi auto)
Look into those old vintage guns, but beware of the chamber/barrel.
