my new deer spot is pretty good, problem I can only use shotgun there and the only one I have is a cil single shot 20ga, there is a possibility of 200yds shots
what do you shotgun experts suggest

I like the 20 ga. myself, and if you get a good rifled barrel varient and find out which sabot slugs your shotgun likes, you'd be good to go for at least 100 yd. I don't think it would matter what gauge shotgun you use, because (and the experts can chime in here) I personally feel that 200 yds. is really pushing it for a shotgun, even with sabots.

20ga with sabot slugs are deadly at longer ranges. I've seen posts on here of moose kills at over 200 yards with 'em.

I haven't done any research on it, but the 20ga might actually be a better option than a 12 for longer ranges due to a smaller projectile resulting in less frontal drag. Maybe. I dunno, haven't looked into it.

Buy a muzzleloader. Most areas in southern ontario allow both or buy a savage 220. Kinda late planning since you need
to buy a gun, sight it in and figure this all out before Monday.

don't know a thing about muzzleloaders and there is only 3 weeks left for deer, Mossberg 500 on sale at cabelas with 3 barrels for $450, but not drilled and tapped for scope

if it's a 3 barrel combo the rifle barrel usually has a cantilever scope mount on the barrel.

The local CT has a 12 gauge 930 field and deer rifled barrel combo for $600. A sabot 12 gauge is tops in my book and a semi for $600... Can't beat that!

I was looking on cabelas and saw a 3 barrel 20 gauge combo on sale for 450$ and tbe rifle barrel has sights on it....... usually they come with a cantilever mount. I would hold out for one with a cantilever barrel. Prairie gun traders has a 12 gauge combo for 499$

Good luck hitting a deer with shotgun at 200 yards with no practice.

Maybe 75 yards too with a mossberg 500 or 930. Need to practice. Shotguns are not rifles and the only accurate gun for 100 to 150 yards is my savage 220 or my cva optima muzzleloader. I have 930 with a rifled barrel and would not trust it after 50 yards.

I shot a ton of deer with my old 16 g shotgun before rifled barrels became available. Now I shot a 20g Sabot and love it ..ever broad side shot threw the ribs has been a pass threw and if you hit them right thy never go to far..the mossy 500 is a great combo . Dutch

Mossy 500 12ga with rifled cantilevered barrel & Bushnell Dawn and Dusk 3-9 does perfectly. Personally, I have never tried a shot out past 100 yards & I don't think I ever will. Maybe for someone with more outstanding marksmanship than me, but not for me.

I am not looking to take long shots with, but I have to walk through a few fields to get to my tree stand and there maybe a chance of a long shot

Find an H&R ultra slug hunter in 20 gauge and spend your savings on practice ammo. Best bang for the buck, if you can find one.

Yupp. If you can find one... Good luck on that... And probably wont be saving much these days because they are getting rare on the resale market and non-existent in stores...
