I would probably take a look at the Trijicon 1-4, myself.
Past 200 I think the reticle sucks...under 200, no problem.
For a cheaper option...maybe the Bushnell MTAC will be a good scope. I am starting to hear decent things about it from people I trust to evaluate optics accurately.
For slightly more...maybe the Nightforce?
200m is of course doable with a red dot but it depends what you want to happen at 200m...personally I would have a hard time hunting at that range with a red dot, for example, although part of that is just a target ID issue in low light. Still...that's part of shooting and a 1-4 would make life easier.
If you just want to bang plates at 200m, well, for that a red dot is definitely sufficient.
There's a lot of 1-4s coming to market now and I like that range for shooting short- to mid-distance. But the features and reticles vary a lot as well as the quality and you really need to think about what you are after.
Personally, I do not want target turrets, for example, and that limits the options some. I want a daylight-visible illuminated reticle, and that limits them again.
On the plus side, everybody with glass and aluminum pipe in stock makes a 1-4 now, so there are lots of choices.
