Need help picking a IPSC Pistol

What do you guys think about Walther pistols?
They don't seem all that popular, or maybe they are and are just rarely sold used and don't have many issues or parts you can mod?
I don't know

No use for AR-15 pistols. Minimum caliber 9mm. At very minimum, you'll have to use 308 pistol...

.308 is 7.62mm, you would still need something bigger.
After quickly checking the only rule I can see that might prohibit an AR based pistol is:
5.1.10 Handguns with shoulder stocks and/or fore grips of any kind are prohibited (see Rule 10.5.15).

I was thinking 50 Beowulf..... clubs should start upgrading their steel, lol!

5.5.6 Ammunition deemed unsafe by a Range Officer must be immediately withdrawn from the match (see Rule
10.5.15).

An RO could quite easily deem ammunition that damages the steel (causing craters which could impact the safety of subsequent competitors) to be unsafe.

Take off handguard and you are good to go!!!

good guns but my buddy has been waiting on a new barrel for his for something like 2 years now (lug broke i believe) so not a good choice for IPSC

Ya looks like I read it wrong.
It says sp01 shadow target
http://www.ipsc.org/rules/proddiv.php

Well that makes things easier. I've wanted a shadow for a while, now just have to figuer out 9mm or 40sw... And if they make the shadow in 40sw.

When I read the list saying the shadow wasn't approved it kinda threw me, a friend of mine specifically said that's what he used.

Thanks for the info everyone.

The CZ Shadow is made in 9mm only. You would have to get a CZ75 in 40s&w if that's the caliber you want for Production class.

Well for now I think I'm going to make my Glock 17 gen4 meet the production class requirements (all factory, no grip tape, and put on glock factory night sights and ditch the plastic ones) and I just ordered a glock 22 gen 4 with night sights.

My thoughts on this is I have the same frame, same triggers and can share holsters on 2 pistols, just more snap to the 40sw glock 22.

Just about ANY 9mm is good enough to take your black badge with and get started. If you're new to IPSC, don't worry about the durability of your firearm for the first few matches; you won't be putting enough rounds through it to cause any major problems. If you find yourself going to several matches and practicing regularly then you might consider getting that new gun, but by then you'll have talked to enough people and handled enough guns that you can make a decision.

well, i do quite a bit of shooting so i dont want to buy something thats not good.

either way, ill run my glock 17 for now and ive got the glock 22 coming soon.
i think ive had my glock 17 for 4-6 months and have about 1400 down the pipe...i know the black badge course is 500 alone.. but its not like i shoot just the glock lol

1400 rounds in 4 to 6 months is not a lot of shooting by IPSC standards.
maybe i should rephrase that a little, ive only had a r-pal for about a year...maybe slightly less.
on just the glock in 4-6 months ive got 1400 ish rounds.
the sig 226 ive had only a couple months longer and have about 2k down it
the sig p220 ive had about a year (or whenever my r-pal was issued) and its got about 2k
i shoot rifles quite a bit lately as well (been getting into AR's)

what i as getting at is i dont want a pistol that will be problematic down the road, i dont like selling my guns. personally ide rather have a variety of reliable guns.
i know a lot of guys buy them, shoot 100 rounds through it in a year and thats fine for them.

IPSC you get to actually run your guns, which im very much looking forward to, and it seems like a great group of people to get out and shoot with.
