Need help with newly bought factory 9mm ammunition... (picture).

Trust is earned, not given.

Attacking last remaining gun store in Toronto, just when they are giving an honest effort to expand their business, is not taken kindly here.

In decades of shooting under my belt, I have never ever seen reputable gun store sell reloads, as factory ammunition. This is an illegal act, and could shut them down for business permanently, and all this is coming from someone who just joined CGN.

All that being said, it is not impossible, but highly unlikely.

If it happened, I am certain that store was duped and will deal with affected customers fairly.

I don't think that a gun store can make a "killing" by selling reloads as factory ammo. That's just nonsense.
Something else must be going on here.

I bought my first gun, a Ruger 10/22 from wholesale sports in Winnipeg(from dale)

I bought a brick of remington viper's, on the advice of the older gun-counter fella there.

That ammo wouldn't feed in the 10/22. LOL Wtf? Little research on the matter , seems like remington ammo is indeed crap.

I went back to the store with a few rounds missing from the brick, and talked to Dale again. He was embarrassed that this happened to me (a noob) and exchanged it on the spot for a brick of something else that actually worked.

I understand now, how great that was, he did the right thing by me. WSS still isn't my all time fave store because of inventory issues, but still, that's proper.

I hope the OP isn't some other business trying to slag a competitor.

Guys, doing some simple Google searching will show that this not an uncommon case. Many people have purchased the "White Box" 9mm ammo from Winchester and have found WCC headstamped (NATO) brass mixed in. Some people actually prefer those rounds over the "WIN" stamped ones for a bunch of different reasons. Some claim it's "hotter" and more consistant.

Simply Google "winchester 9mm with wcc headstamp"

BTW this is my first post so go easy on me.......just trying to be helpful.

Maybe he works for Federal?

Al's sound's like a good store, that did the right thing.

I, for one, haven't had much use for Win ammo; my Tikka doesn't like it, my 10/22 doesn't like it, my Mini-14 doesn't like it, and after reading this (including the post by sevoman), and that other thread about Winchester ammo, I'm just plain leary of it altogether. I'm off to Google this craziness.

As I pointed out, the WCC headstamp is Winchester US Gov -that doesn't worry me, and some of those rounds have WCC crimped in primers - which they all should. Some however should have crimped primers and don't. The OAL thing is troubling, if it is indeed factory ammo, it's possible that these rounds were produced when the equipment was switching from one product to another (a production line change over can take a long time and the rounds produced at each station will normally be wrong while the stations are being adjusted - it's not like setting up a press -or even a Camdex -, there are a lot more functions involved and they occur at amazing speed) but there's a serious QC issue here if that sh*t was boxed and shipped from Winchester's factory.

Glad to see the retailer wasn't an *ss about it. Personally I'm not a fan of Winchester's current stuff, their white box 223 is pretty crappy and the WinClean has been garbage lately too.

Where do you see any indication of that?

He had a problem, brought it up and was taken care of. Sounds like an endorsement, not #####ing.

If I lived in the GTA (thank god I don't) I'd give them business on the basis of this thread alone.

Exactly. And for the record, *I* never said that the store "sold me reloads", other did that. And never have I ever supposed malicious intent on their part. My debrief of the situation (if you care to actually read the thread) is exclusively positive about Flaherty's. I will buy there again. Finally, as others have said, there is basically no competition to pull a stunt like that, Flaherty's "is the last remaining gun store in Toronto".

That's it from me.

I have 2 boxes of 9mm 115 grain and have the same occurance, some stamped win 9mm luger and some win 10, the 10 I assume meaning the year of manufacture, the overall length on mine are consistant however and I have already shot some of the off with no problems.

Welcome!

Yeaaah, Google doesn't like Win white box much these days (THR has a big WARNING! thread), of course, it really hates Remington .22, of which my 10/22 likes the Subsonics, so the obvious answer is: I need to get a Dillon progressive this year:D

That's the only logical conclusion any normal human could possibly come to - while you're buying a Dillon, you may as well do it right and get yourself a 1050, just tell the wife I said it was OK.

I of course bow to your irrefutable arguement, I'm sure my wife will fall all over herself agreeing as well (me::D:redface:
she::mad::HR::kickInTheNuts:).
Is it too early to call it an early Christmas present to me?

Good to hear that AF's took care of you and that you are pleased with the outcome. I'm curious to know what was up with the ammo you purchased first time around. Hopefully they will figure it out and let you know.

Good call on the Dillon there fellas.

AF's is a repuatble place - I'm not at all surprised that they handled this well.

My take away here is even though it's a bit tedious on my turrte press - I will contiue loading 9 mm myself.

Try loading it on a single stage... :D

To the OP,,,,,unless your buying hundreds of box's of ammo, and thousands of rounds, keep this in mind.

When I buy ammo, I will open up each and every box, inspect the contents, and if I am satisfied the contents are correct, I will then purchase that box of ammo, if not I ask for another, and another and so on, but I will not walk out of a store with ammo that I have not inspected.

I have purchased box's of 308 and found, all kinds of crap mixed in, as well as other calibers having mismatched ammo, 45ACP, 9mm, 7mm Rem Mag and so on, and from various manufacturers.

If your buying in small quantities, inspect before you purchase, I have never been stopped from doing this at any store I have been at to purchase ammo, including the store you just purchased from.

Since there is a no return policy at most/all stores, it can prove difficult to say it wasn't me who mixed up the rounds when I got home, this way at the store there is no chance of me being in the wrong.

No I don't inspect, the bulk Russian or other surplus stuff, and or shotgun shells, as usually that is packaged in large quantity, but all other boxed ammo is looked at.

And if the store I am at won't let me take a look, I will walk out and not purchase there.

Good.

Al Flaherty came through with flying colours, as I knew they would.

However, it appears that we will never know how did all this came about.
