We are into production of our AT15 lowers, Gen 3 and thought it would be an idea to ask what the thoughts were from the consumer on a detail that has us split.

For engraving would you prefer to have the lower engraved and be all black or
have the engraving done after anodizing so that it really stands out in contrast?

We have the ability to do this either way, doing the engraving after ano will make the fire control and other engraving really show up like this.

engraving

As usuall your customer service is shining through,The white lettering looks fantastic, and would stand out from the crowd. Would there be any color options avail. such as red for fire conrtols or emblems? If you keep comeing up with this stuff i'm going to be eternaly broke:canadaFlag:

Actually is only shows white in the photo, what you are seeing is the natural aluminum color as the engraving is cut through the anodizing.

To fill the engraving with red or whatever color 1 wanted with CeroKote and then kiln bake it would not be a big deal to do as the engraving as .020 deep.

I think I prefer it black myself. But someone could always color in the black afterwards if they wanted to. More flexibility this way.

I think i'd rather just have the regular engrave then anodize, and have the option to get it painted white or red or whatever.

Blacked-out is far more "stealth."

I know I bought my lower because of the fact that all the text was laser cut and tough to see from a distance, everything is black.

Rick, what would you charge for custom FIRE/SAFE engraving on a standard non ATRS lower you can pm me if you don't want to make it public.

you guys do build nice rifles, do you guys have some sort of price list?

The last run of lowers were sold at $550.00 for the stripped lower
We have many several improvements in the lower, like captured safety detent and captured rear takedown pin detent as well as some changes in the overall finish.
With improved machine programs, fixtures and tooling we are expecting to be able to reduce the costs, but at this instant don't know by how much, so at the moment are only projecting absolute worst case as being $550.00 on this newest generation lowers.
Those who have seen and felt the prototypes have all been very impressed with the upgrades.
I will be posting a seperate thread with photos once we have the mag wells EDMed out and the lowers are closer to being finished.

The problem would be that our lower is such a different shape from all others, our fixtures would not hold any other lower well enough to not have a good chance of being pulled from the fixture while in the CNC.
To make up a fixture to hold a conventional lower would be the best way to do this work, but would be very expensive to do for a 1 of.

Well, I would imagine that engraving milspec lowers could be a lucrative enterprise for you, I have no interest in paying full price for tooling and setup for a one off, but think about it and get back to me if you decide to pursue.

I'm pretty excited to get one of these.

Engraving before and after both look great, but I think before is my preference.

The problem with engraving after anodizing is that the letters will lose their shine as they fill with crud. We engrave our control boxes after anodizing. They look amazing when clean but the lettering eventually turns brown and black as it fills with dirt, oil, etc.

Nice, it seperates it from looking like a reg plain jane lower.
