Need some help identifying gun parts from a deceased friend.

Do any of the shotguns use the release lever as a cartridge stop?

The one above looks like the stop on it is considerably longer than the one below.

I read into it that the one is the broken original part, and your friend apparently bought a replacement and a spare for when/if it happened again, so there should be a third one of those assembled into a gun in that collection.

They look like low quality parts... and they are not the same dimensions.

Looks like an AK safety, there was an older shotgun that used the same type of safety.... looks a lot like it.

The 'gap' seems to be larger in the bottom one... does the bottom piece move?

The bottom piece that looks rivetted on is not in the same position and like you said the gap is larger on the bottom and the top tab is longer.

My first thought was going to be either a safety lever or magazine cut-off for some sort for a military firearm.

Probably does not really help at this point, but looking again at your first picture - very upper left of the parts as shown - the upper one is a short shoulder - the broken piece has a longer shoulder - just that might suggest they are not replacement for one another, even if lower one was not broken in two??

There is some visual distortion due to the wide angle focal length the the cellphone camera lens in closeup.
