need suggestion on mounting AK grip to CZ858

Yes, I made myself a replaceable scout low mount for tacking on a Kobra reflex sight. It replaces the piston cover and is rock solid.
One most important thing for me is total and instantaneous return to the original design since it doesn't require any alteration (drilling and tapping) of the firearm.
I'll publish a report and a how-to with costs once the design is test-fired.

Patience, grasshopper! Oh well, here's some preliminary pics.
I't's only the lowest mounting option for a scout mount. I used a spare piston guard, stripped it of its synthetic cover and mounted a weaver rail on it.
The one I found was the thinnest with a bottom radius that matches perfectly the cover's curve. It was about 1/32" longer but I cut two little angled slots at one end that allowed the part to fit in tight.
I had to drill and tap with a 6-48 tap. Perhaps I'll braze a thin reinforcing piece or small pads inside the piston cover channel to offer a little more purchase to the screw threads, we'll see later on.
Presently, I'm deciding what kind of lateral protection panels should be put on. Maybe some perforated sheet metal with same color lacker? what would you see there?
OH maybe that thing should be moved to another thread on mounting options, don't you think?

yes, im aware of those grips and even the grips from wolverine , the importer of CZ858 would also offer alternative grips .

yes, im pulling your leg .... nice work . there seams to be a need for an alternative to the scout mount .

I need some help with my cz858, I'm trying to change the wood to the black skeleton stock. I tried to unscrew the bolt inside the stock but guess I need a bigger screw driver as it just won't turn, am I correct? Re the fore grips, I got the top one off ok but the bottom one looks like its held in place by a pin. I tried tapping it out gently but it wouldn't budge. Can someone tell me if it is a pin, thought it might unscrew using an Allen key but that didn't work. I don't want to get the 2lb hammer out just yet. Tx.

the stock screw is one sob to remove , read the FAQ sticky in red rifle forum.

the lower HG is held in by a pin so drive it out , if it wont move in one direction then try the other direction . after the pin is removed , you probably need to tap the top of the hg gently to drive it down and off.

I looked at the various contraptions mentioned in the monster thread, then went to princess auto and got a 8" long 1/2" impact extension, ground the top off to get rid of the socket ball, and ground a flat section just wide enough to fit into the flat head, a light burp of the impact gun and out it came, total cost $5.99. ..unless you include the compressor and impact gun, but I already owned them.

another suggestion which i followed was using an old tire iron , grounded the tip and bent the handle alittle more.

dont damage the trigger guard , it also acts as a grip retainer.

When I did this I removed the entire pistol grip mounting plate. This left the trigger guard loose, which I JB Welded to the reciever.

I used a black plastic AK grip and a bolt from a specialty store. They only had one style of bolt long enough to work. I had to trim off about 3/8" which left only a small length of thread (bolt was only threaded on the end). Used a die to thread the bolt farther down.

The AK grip mated perfectly with the trigger guard.

glad you fixed that loose trigger guard .... as you can see in my pic there are a piece of the grip retaining plate below the trigger left behind, like i said i carefully wiggled and broke off the retaining plate .
